Haifa museums open registration for summer camps for children and youth. This year, 7 unique camps are offered in different fields of art:
Summer art studio at the Haifa Museum of Art and a space art incubator
The camp will be held in two activity cycles for graduates of grades 3-4 and 5-6. At the camp, the children will focus every day on a different art technique from the fields of drawing, painting and sculpture, and will experiment with different materials such as ink and ecoline, plaster casting, construction with cardboard and more.
Ceramics studio at the Haifa Museum of Art and Mekot Art Conservatory
The camp will be held in two cycles of activity for graduates of grades 1-2 and 4-6. At the camp, the children will learn the different stages that the material goes through from the initial contact until it comes out of a final burn. They were sculpted and created in clay using diverse working methods and on different surfaces.
Manga and anime camp at the Tikotin Museum
The camp will be held in two cycles of activity for graduates of 4th-6th and 3rd-4th. At the camp, the children will dive into the world of Japanese art. They will draw and sculpt figures, learn about the colorful "Harajuku style" fashion from Tokyo, learn how to write their name in Japanese and more.
The submarine camp at the National Maritime Museum
The camp is intended for graduates of grades 1-3. As part of the camp, the children will visit the exhibition "Sea and its fullness", which presents marine nature and the permanent exhibitions in the museum: the pirates exhibition and the rescue SOS exhibition. Inspired by the instruction at the exhibitions, the children created in a variety of materials and played fun puzzle games.
Camp Ior at the Haifa City Museum
The camp is intended for graduates of grades 4-6. At the camp, the children will learn about the connection between illustration and story, how to design a character and create a unique world for it, different illustration styles. The children will prepare their own book and experiment with various techniques and materials and more.
The printmaking camp at the Herman Struck Museum
The camp is intended for graduates of grades 7-9. The camp is intended for creative youth who want to delve into a new field of printing - ballet printing, using different techniques.
A camp on paper at the Hermann Struck Museum
The camp is intended for graduates of the 5th and 6th grades. The children will experience the traditional craft of making paper, designing stamps, creating with the dry etching technique and finally making a handmade notebook.
According to Adina Perlman Vardi, the education director of the Haifa museums:
We are proud to launch our summer camp program, which includes 7 boutique camps, in each of which up to 10 children only, and are taught by professional guides and instructors from the various fields of art. Each camp will focus on a certain artistic field and the activities will include tailored training in the exhibitions currently on display in the various museums and creations inspired by and related to the exhibitions.
