A new program to maintain the employment sequence for evacuees in Haifa - limited number of places!

We set out with a new and unique program that maintains the occupational continuum and finds creative solutions for evacuees in the city! The program allows the opportunity to learn, develop and experiment in new fields of employment in this complex time.

The Economic Society for Haifa in cooperation with the Municipality of Haifa, the Haifa-Boston Partnership, the Haifa Opportunity Center - the Welfare Administration, the 'Batsami' organization and other partners initiated a program to maintain the employment continuity for evacuees staying in Haifa. Within a short time of the launch of the program, about 80 evacuees were registered, these days about 20 participants are already starting the process, which includes close and occupationally oriented accompaniment, integration into studies and professional training courses, experience with an employer and strengthening of occupational resilience.

Another voice for the evacuees in the city - they maintain an employment sequence

In light of the impressive response, the initiators of the program decided to expand it and issue another call for evacuees in the city, so that they can integrate and continue in the occupational sequence without harming the grants or receipts they receive from the state.

The purpose of the program is to find solutions to maintain employment continuity for approximately 75 evacuees (in the first phase), who are staying in the city, and at the same time to create a Haifa pilot, which can be replicated throughout the country.

According to Or Shaf, CEO of the Economic Society for Haifa:

I am happy to see that the good news is coming out of Haifa. From our point of view, 80 evacuees who registered immediately upon the opening of registration is a significant achievement by all accounts, sharpening the need and understanding that there is indeed a need to provide a dedicated response and thus that the program is required and important. I call on more evacuees to contact the 'Batsami' organization and start the process. It is important to note that the number of places is limited, so you should register.

The donation - 300 thousand dollars for the project

The compensation for the employment of the evacuees is financed by a generous donation from the Haifa-Boston partnership, which will contribute approximately 300 thousand dollars for the project in the first stage.

At the beginning of the war, about 6,000 evacuees arrived in Haifa, mainly from Kiryat Shmona, Shlomi, Kibbutz Dan and Otef Darom. Today there are about 2,500 evacuees from the north whose length of stay in the city is unknown and at this point no change is expected.

Rani Bender, Chairman of the Haifa Economic Society:

Employment is not just a livelihood, employment is meaning, a reason to get up in the morning, to be active and in motion. As a company that believes in business in Haifa, it is very important to take care of both businesses, and no less to take care of the community staying in the city from an employment point of view, in the challenging times we are in. These days we are looking at additional new projects to promote business in the city and we will soon launch them.

The 'Batsami' organization and the Haifa Opportunity Center - the Welfare Administration are leading the important move and the work with the evacuees. The process includes building a personal plan for each participant in the program, accompanying and professional training and a three-month experience within business companies in Haifa. The employers in Haifa gain motivated volunteers who are in the process of change. Each participant receives a one-time grant of NIS 5,000, in addition to the grants he is entitled to within the framework of the state, so that both parties benefit in this complex time. This opportunity and program continue to drive the economy and enable meaning and occupational advancement.

Dr. Efrat Shafer, chairman of the Haifa Boston partnership, former president of Philips from the project team:

We tried to build together a move that would allow, as much as possible, a return to a normal life. Places of employment that will suit the needs and requirements of the evacuees, experience of 50% of a job, a professional envelope and a response to needs such as resilience and the acquisition of skills." "To encourage participation in the program, we made it our goal not to harm the grants given to the evacuees while introducing them to the employment system. Therefore, building the employment model was challenging.
