State President Yitzhak Herzog at an appreciation meeting with the Haifa retirees' lobby

The President of the State to the volunteers and members of the board of the pensioners' lobby in Haifa: "I am impressed by your activity"

On Thursday 06/06/24, a meeting was held with the President of the State Yitzhak Herzog in recognition and as a tribute to the volunteers and members of the board of the pensioners' lobby, for their recruitment from the first day of the war to operate an aid center for senior citizens and young people in Haifa.

President Yitzhak Herzog hosted the volunteers and members of the Haifa Pensioners' Lobby management at the President's residence in Jerusalem and heard from Deputy Mayor Israel Savion and Pensioners' Lobby Chairman Eli Landau about the activities of the lobby in Haifa.

The president was impressed by the operation of the emergency call center that was established by the pensioners' lobby at the beginning of the war and still operates on a full volunteer basis for the senior citizens in the city and also on the repair van that helps senior citizens with home repairs for free.

About forty volunteers and members of the lobby management arrived at noon on Thursday at the President's residence in Jerusalem. The visit included an exciting meeting with President Yitzhak Herzog and a fascinating tour of the Mishkan. The visitors heard about the history of the Mishkan of the presidents of Israel, about the presidents of Israel through their generations, about the role of the presidency in general and the work of the president in particular.

The tour was conducted between the different parts of the house and the visitors heard from the staff of the Mishkan about the work of the president and the staff of the house, about the daily routine, vision and work of President Herzog and the ways in which he influences the Israeli state and society. During the tour, the visitors visited the ceremonial spaces of the house and the garden, heard about the history of the building, details of the art and archeology, and watched a film reviewing the work of Israel's presidents throughout the generations and heard interesting stories from the Mishkan.

President Herzog spoke with the chairman of the pensioners' lobby, Eli Landau, who presented the president with a historic photo in which he is photographed next to Haim Herzog, the president's father, at an event where Herzog Sr. was awarded a certificate of honor commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Craft and Industry Association in April 1992 when Landau served as chairman of the association.
