13 documentaries created by the school's graduates
On the evening of the finals which took place on Wednesday, 5/06/24 at Rapaport Hall in Haifa, with the participation of hundreds of people, 13 documentaries created by the school's graduates were screened. The films that were screened are the fruit of three years of study as part of the film and communication major at the XNUMXth City High School.
As part of the course, which is led by course coordinator Moshiko Heckman, students are exposed to a variety of genres including satire, news, advertisements, documentary and more, learn about journalistic ethics and dealing with media dilemmas, develop critical thinking and media activist entrepreneurship. As a final project, the students upload a film up to 10 minutes long in which they practically apply the skills they learned in the field of photography, editing, sound, script writing and production.

Ilana Truk, Head of the Education Administration at the Haifa Municipality:
As part of the main goals in the Haifa education system, which emphasize the students' sense of belonging and the relevance of the education system to the learner - the students of the communication and cinema major in the 5th cities presented wonderful talent, sensitivity and maturity. The documentaries shown at the event expressed the ability to deal with complex and painful issues, in a controlled and fascinating way. The ability to combine documentation, editing and creative writing provides a new perspective on the students' dealings with the pain brought up by the period, alongside hope and the importance of unity in the nation.
Iron Swords War movies
The students of the major chose this year (2024) to engage in documenting families in which one of their loved ones fell in the "Iron Swords" war. One group accompanied the Butzhak family, whose son Usheri the late, a revered officer, was killed in the Gaza Strip and his fiancee, Ravid Demati, fought for the fiance law in the Knesset. Another group accompanied the mother of the late Michal Roimi, a school graduate, who was murdered at a party in Nova.
Another group of students accompanied the mother of the late Aden Ohion, who was also murdered at a party in Nova, and her sister Maureen, the student of the major, who produced the film. Another film accompanied Ortel Belich, the widow of the late Vodim Belich, a hero police officer Israel who went down with his unit to fight in Bari on 7.10 and saved dozens, he left behind three children and a wife.
The bereaved families were present in the hall on the evening of the screenings, and thanked the students for choosing to commemorate their loved ones.

Hagit Levy, principal of the Urban High School:
The films created by the students of this year's major expressed deep pain. A pain that intensified when meeting the families who lost their loved ones. The students very sensitively documented the stories of the fallen and with the help of the art of cinema they even found a way to cope and become stronger. Our dedicated team of major teachers accompanied, supported and encouraged the young filmmakers. I am proud of you, all the partners in the film and media major.
