A wonderful encounter between kindergarten children in Kiryat Bialik and a dancer in a wheelchair

On Thursday, May 30.5.24, XNUMX, there was a meeting between the children of the "Cello" Kindergarten in Kiryat Bialik and the dancers of the mixed dance troupe "Hora Il'an Haifa" and the volunteers of Accessibility Israel North-N.Y.C. Racheli Kahana and Haya Lavi, who moves around with the help of a wheelchair .

At the beginning of the meeting Chaya introduced Racheli and her, told her about the wheelchair and explained how she gets around and dances with it. Chaya told the children that they would dance a short dance and read the words of the song to the tune of the performance. After that, Chaya answered the questions of the children who asked many questions such as how she dresses, bathes, eats, etc.

They also asked who and how built the unique wheelchair for dancing. After that she danced with the children who wanted and these were actually most of the kindergarten children. At the end, the children presented a small gift to each of the dancers. It was an impressive and wonderful meeting for both the children, the dancers and the kindergarten staff.

About the unique program

The unique program was developed by Racheli Berkowitz from "Baim Batov" of the Society for Community Centers and Director of Accessibility Israel North-N.Y.C. Dr. Revital Shortz-Sbirsky, with the aim of imparting the values ​​of accessibility and acceptance of the other from kindergarten age onward under the statement "Until you experience it - you will understand".

For a whole year, the children learn in an orderly manner the principles of diversity, disability, accessibility and acceptance of others while being exposed to volunteers with various disabilities. The program has been successfully operated for a decade in Kiryat Bialik and in the last two years has gained momentum in Kiryat Motzkin as well.
