The municipality of Kiryat Bialik is examining the possibility of moving to 5 school days a week in middle and high schools. The exam is done following the appeal of the school administrations and parents' councils, who expressed interest in the subject.
The mayor of Kiryat Bialik, Eli Dukorski, said:
We are aware that going beyond 5 school days can have a significant impact on the lives of students, their families and the entire education system. Therefore, it is important for us to carry out an in-depth examination of the issue, with extensive cooperation with all the relevant parties and the participation of the public.
Dukorski even appointed a professional committee to examine the issue, headed by city council member Beth El Loof. The committee will examine the aspects for and against the decision. The transition to 5 school days will make it possible to create quality family time, which is important for the emotional and social development of the children.
The transition will cause an extension of the school day, which will lead to continuous and more meaningful learning. In terms of the time system, it will be possible to build a more balanced system in the classrooms, taking into account the needs of all students. The teaching staff and management will be available to the students throughout the week, which can contribute to a sense of security and improve the relationship between the staff and the students. Also, an additional day of rest will allow students to reduce pressure, refresh and return to class with a higher motivation for learning.
As part of the exam, a survey will be conducted among the parents of the school students. The survey was designed to gather information about the parents' position regarding the subject, and their expectations from the transition to 5 school days.
This is what Dukorski said:
We believe that public participation in this decision is essential. The survey will allow us to get a broader picture of public opinion, and to consider all aspects of the issue before making a decision.
After examining all aspects for and against, the municipality's education committee will make the final decision regarding the transition to 5 school days.
All the best to you, my friend, Eli Dukorski, Mayor of Kiryat Bialik, Shabbat Shalom and blessings to you, Eli
