There is no lighting on the coastal road between Hadera and Haifa - "This is a ticking bomb that could cost human lives" • The mayor of Haifa has an urgent appeal

"Take care of the ticking bomb on the coastal road" - the mayor of Haifa, Yona Yahav, in an urgent appeal to the Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev.
In the letter sent by Yahav to Sara Regev, the mayor points out that the section between the city of Haifa and Netanya on Route 2 is considered a "ticking bomb" that could cost human lives, since it does not meet any reasonable and up-to-date road lighting standards.

The Mayor of Haifa, Yona Yahav, addressed a letter to the Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev, in which he requests her urgent intervention to regulate lighting on Highway 2, in the section between the city of Haifa and Netanya.

"does not meet a reasonable and current standard"

In his letter, the mayor writes: "Highway 2, which is the main road leading from the city of Haifa to the south, is not lit entirely in the section of the road between the city of Haifa and the city of Netanya, unlike its other sections - from the city of Netanya to the south, which are lit along their entire length.
This is a significant section of road, which has a lot of use and users, and hence it is indisputable that there is an obligation to ensure that the said section, throughout its length, will be lit and ensure that the users of it will be able to drive their vehicles safely," the mayor points out.

"This section of road," adds Yahav, "does not meet any reasonable and current standard of road lighting, and is considered a "ticking bomb" that could cost human lives."

In his letter, the mayor refers to the State Comptroller's reports, which emphasize the duty imposed on the Ministry of Transportation to act to allocate appropriate and required budgets for road lighting, this is due to the great importance of lighting means in preventing serious accidents on the roads.

Yahav ends his letter with a personal appeal to Sara Regev, requesting that she urgently instruct the employees of her office to act to arrange continuous night lighting on Route 2, along the entire length of the road section in question, in order to ensure the safety of the users of this road section.

  1. The title of the man chosen to run the municipality is "mayor" and not really the mayor.
The mayor does not manage the city but Supposed to provide services to the residents of the city and its guests. That is - trash removal, lighting in the streets, making sure that the roads, streets, boulevards, sidewalks, ups and downs, stairs, alleys, squares, squares and paths, crossings, intersections and more of these are safe for use.
In short, to enable a comfortable and pleasant life within the city limits.

  2. Every week there are fatal accidents specifically on Route 4
Road 4 has not been upgraded since the establishment of the state even though hundreds of thousands of residents who use it have been added along it and road 2 is called a ticking bomb????
    It's already a parody.

  3. patty Like it's the only unlit road. Turn on high lights and aim low. And there is a column and not dazzling. But Yahav must show that he is doing something.

  4. More nonsense from Yahav's seminary. Who will pay for it? we! Tax increase in disguise? Who will pay the workers, for the lighting poles, for the electricity consumption?
Nowhere in the world is there continuous lighting on the roads. This is called light pollution which interferes with bird migration and disrupts the movement of sea turtles. But what does Lihav care, a known hater?
No one drives in the dark. That's what car headlights are for. Drive slowly and carefully.

  5. In Europe and America there is no lighting at all on any interstate, and they all get along just fine.
What's the problem with turning on headlights?

  6. It seems that he sent a letter that was written 3-4 years ago, because the section between Netanya and Caesarea has already been expanded and is well lit, although in the northern part from Caesarea to Haifa it is not lit and moreover, the road is very narrow in the section between Caesarea and Yaakov Memorial so that there will be particularly heavy traffic at the Yaakov Memorial Interchange itself... I'm no longer talking about the Zirkon Yaakov Interchange itself, perhaps the most dangerous interchange in Israel today, since there is almost no acceleration lane to the south and no safe exit to Zirkon Yakovl from the south...

  7. instead of starting to sort things out in the city. He is messing with us on the road section between Haifa and Netanyaf with this gigantic joke

  8. You are right about the inclusion there is no lighting and there must be lighting along the road not from today but from many years ago it should have been done but it is never too late
