Ein Hayam school goes down to the sea
Mats were spread on the beach, refreshments and cut watermelons, songs emanated from the speaker. This is what a day of activity looks like as part of the Independence Day (2024) celebrations of the Ein Hayam school classes.
Almost a private beach
Distance from school from the azure coast There is a few hundred meters between the Pepe square and the Sea and Lakes Research Institute. To get there, you go down through the tunnel, and with the exception of a few travelers who walk on the promenade towards the Hecht promenade, there is nothing to disturb, this is it: almost a private beach..
Respect is a winning game!
The school in Ein Hayam is a community school that combines not only different ages, from kindergarten to high school, but also different audiences. Ein Hayam has a diverse population: Christians, Muslims, Jews, new immigrants from all strata of the population. The school has a regulation that is renewed every year and that was created with the teachers and parents of the students.
The school excels in playful activities, through which the students learn in a "fun" way. The Ein Hayam experimental school in Haifa develops alternative teaching methods, which apply innovative learning in playful spaces and in a variety of playing arenas. Libraries: corridors, courtyards, a grove, in a factory for the production of board games, as well as playgrounds outside of municipal schools - Beach and Tel Shekmona, and in the Haifa National Maritime Museum.
The name of the experiment devised by the team of teachers is Respect is a winning game"!
From the school website:
At Ein Hayam experimental school, learning is play, play is learning, and the child who learns successfully is the child who plays. The educational concept sees the school as the playground of life - a playful organization that develops a playful pedagogy and applies it in a variety of playful spaces, among others corridors, a grove, a factory, a beach. The game is the natural state in learning processes, and the goal is to create a playful consciousness in transfer processes to everyday life outside of school.
This is how the activity day was also prepared in honor of Independence Day: the students sat on mats by the seashore, played board games and at the end of the activity they flew white kites with the school emblem.
It was fun to watch the creativity of the accompanying teachers and parents. I have already seen the children from a distance happily flying their kites.
As someone who grew up in Gush Dan, it is exciting every time to see the many uses of the seashore at the foot of Mount Carmel. A winning combination of nature close to marine uses.
