Towards the start of international flights and flights to Eilat from Haifa airport: the Airports Authority will complete the renovation of the runways in accordance with international requirements
The Airports Authority is currently completing the preparations for the return of the Haifa airport to a field that allows international flights and flights from the north of the country to Eilat. In this framework, and in order to meet the aviation requirements of the international bodies, the airport will close to activity starting at the end of May (2024), for the month and a half This is in order to allow the stratification of the landing and takeoff routes. The airport authority says that the works will proceed as quickly as possible in order to allow the start of international operations and flights from Haifa to Eilat at the end of July (2024).
New Israeli airline: Air Haifa
As mentioned, during the coming summer, a new Israeli airline is supposed to start operating at Haifa Airport: Air Haifa. This is after Minister Regev granted an operating license to Air Haifa a few months ago. The license allows it to operate commercial flights from Haifa airport to nearby destinations in Europe and the Mediterranean basin such as Greece and Turkey. This, as part of the minister's vision for increasing connectivity and strengthening connectivity within Israel and abroad.
Also, the company intends to operate a flight line from Haifa to Ramon port near Eilat. It should be noted that there is currently a shortage of flights from the center of the country to Eilat, and the activity should help with the volume of flights.
Minister of Transportation and Road Safety, Brigadier General (resp.) Miri Regev:
We are happy about the completion of Rashat's preparations for the upgrade of the airport in Haifa. The residents of the north of the country also deserve to enjoy a variety of flights, without having to come to Israel.
As part of the route stratification activity, the activity that currently exists at Haifa Airport will be transferred, for a month and a half, to other airports and airstrips.
In March 2016 I flew from Haifa.
Real fun.
From home to boarding the plane is about an hour...
Savings of 3 hours.
The plane - atr72 is currently operated by dozens (!) of airlines...
It's time
It seems to really work
bullshit. What activity will be transferred exactly? The field has been inhabited since the beginning of the war... a picture on the gate of a Boeing 737 that will never land in Haifa... what a relief for Ben-Gurion? Old propeller planes barely land on a 1200 meter runway... noisy scraps driven by a propeller for flights of up to two hours... is this the relief for the residents of the north? More gibberish and nonsense from the minister of ceremonies.. and an airport manager and his servants who are sabotaging the growth of Haifa airport on the grounds that jet planes create noise...
Let's hope for the best and soon this will add economic life to Haifa
Does the planning also include flights to Cyprus?
Today there are 6-10 daily flights between Netbag and Larnaca.
It is clear that some of the flights come from the north of the country.
I don't see any reason why there shouldn't be a line to Cyprus, what's more, more and more Israelis are buying Nakfi on the neighboring island.
I don't understand why there is no ferry line between Haifa and Cyprus.
The distance between Haifa and Larnaca is 250 km, less than 8 hours sailing.
In Greece there are ferries for longer distances.
