Caught engaging in illegal fishing ► Watch
Shay Kabasa inspector of a marine unit at the Nature and Parks Authority:
We are in the breeding season designed to allow the fish resource to renew itself. During this period, fishing in the Mediterranean Sea is prohibited except for the permits defined by the Chief Fisheries Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture, which are detailed on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Nature and Parks Authority. In this case, 24 kg of fish were caught. The marine unit inspectors will enforce the regulations with determination and sensitivity.
These regulations protect the fish from direct fishing in the most sensitive season for them in which they raise the next generation, and also prevent indirect damage to fish that are caught with non-selective fishing equipment as by-catch - fish and animals that are caught even though they are not the target species.

The Nature and Parks Authority will interrogate those suspected of fishing without a boat license, damage and maintenance of protected natural value and fishing during the breeding season and exceeding the booty quota.
If you encounter illegal fishing, report it to the hotline of the Nature and Parks Authority - 3639*.
They are coming for the little ones, who earned their living from hand to mouth!
