In the regional stage of the Space Olympics that took place on Wednesday, 15.05.24 at Ort Brauda College in Karmiel, the team from Alliance "Hallians" was chosen to be one of the three teams that will represent the North in the national Space Olympics that will take place next month (June 2023).
The Olympiad, which is held on the initiative and funding of the Israel Space Agency in the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology in cooperation with the supervision of science and technology education, is held every year with the aim of exposing the students to various space technologies, to entrepreneurial thinking and to solving breakthrough challenges with advanced content in the field of research and the space industry.

Three schools advanced to the finals
Ten schools competed in the regional competition. Three of them advanced to the national final. The Alliance Middle School team includes a group of space-loving students, who prepared for the competition based on independent learning, through reading articles, articles, videos, experimenting with writing code and using artificial intelligence.
The teams competing in the Olympics were required to design a space vehicle for colonization in the solar system. The Alliance team chose to design a vehicle that would land on Mars, where life might be possible in the future.
The students experienced the engineering planning process, learned about challenges in space, about the types of space vehicles and designed their vehicle so that it would be adapted to the needs. They created an experiment that tested the durability of the space vehicle and wrote code to create an artificial intelligence system in space. The jury determined that the group demonstrated innovation and creativity in 3D modeling and digital model design. Now, the group will start preparing for the National Research Olympiad that will take place next month, at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
