"Teachers will not come to the schools" - another strike in the secondary schools

(live here in the education system) - After last week classes in the high schools were shut down for two hours (Thursday 2/5/24) by the decision of the chairman of the teachers' organization, Ran Erez, Erez is now announcing another strike on Wednesday 15/5/24, again for two hours. Erez warns that he intends to suspend classes the next day as well (Thursday 16/5/24), but details regarding this will be provided later.

Erez sent a letter to the chairman of the local government center, Mr. Haim Bibbs, and the chairman of the regional councils, Mr. Shay Hajj, regarding the continuation of the organizational measures on the issue, let him write:
❞Due to the clear and uncompromising statements of the representatives of the Ministry of Finance, about their reluctance to move forward in negotiations towards signing a collective agreement, as long as we do not accept their dictate and agree to personal contracts and the transformation of teachers into contractor employees, a matter which means the first step to the privatization of the education system, we are forced intensify the steps of the struggle.
We inform you that on Wednesday, 15.5.24, classes will be suspended in the secondary education system for two hours, between the hours of 10:00 and 08:00.
Teachers will not come to the schools during these hours.
As for the shutdown on Thursday, 16.5.24, a notification will be given at the usual time.❞

In a message that Erez sent to the teachers of the organization regarding the strike, he informed them about the continuation of the struggle and added: "We will not lend a hand to the privatization of the education system. The teachers will not be contract workers!"
