Carmel Castle will celebrate the 76th Independence Day of the State of Israel this year in a limited format, as a sign of unity and with an emphasis on the children and the community.
the main event
The main event will take place on Monday, May 13.5.2024, XNUMX, the eve of Independence Day, at the main stage in the Gesher Mithir parking lot (Ariel Sharon St.). With the closing of the day of remembrance for the fallen of Israel's systems and hostilities, there will be a ceremonial hoisting of the Israeli flag which will give the signal for the opening of the Independence Day events.
During the evening, the children of the city and the surrounding area will enjoy a show by the Sapir family, a huge and rich amusement park complex with a variety of inflatables, and a Las Vegas show that will include acrobatics. Local artists and ensembles will also appear on stage, including Studio D dancers and the Kol Halab band of the Tirat Carmel community center, and there will be a spectacular laser show. As every year, the audience will enjoy a variety of food stalls, drinks, activities for the whole family and more.
A reduced format of the Independence Day event
The decision on a reduced format of the Independence Day events was made following a survey of residents conducted by the municipality a few weeks ago, against the background of the security situation and in accordance with the instructions of the mayor, Dodo Cohen. As a reminder, 2,014 residents of all ages participated in the survey, and 51.2 percent of them determined that celebrating should be limited; 35.3 percent of the respondents believed that the events should be canceled completely, and only 13.5 percent believed that the holiday events should be held in a regular format like every year.
In the schools and youth movements in the city, ceremonies and activities are already taking place this week in preparation for Independence Day. This coming Friday, May 10.5.2024, XNUMX, Yigal Alon Elementary School will hold the traditional Independence March, which takes place every year during National Week with the participation of hundreds of students, parents and residents of the city. The general public is invited to accompany the march.
