(haipo) - Volunteers of the Galil Carmel rescue unit today (Saturday, 27/4/24) rescued a hiker who was injured deep in the area in Carmel. Israeli citizens travel during the holiday in droves. If something, God forbid, goes wrong during the trip, then there is someone to rely on.
The Galil-Carmel Rescue Unit reported to Lahi Fe:
A team from the "Galil-Carmel" rescue unit, in cooperation with a RTG inspector, rescued a female hiker from the area after she was injured in Nahal Kalah in the Carmel Reserve.
Climbing, surfing and rescue
The volunteers of the "Galil-Carmel" rescue unit of the Israel Police in cooperation with the RTG inspector, were called today (Saturday) to go out for a rescue, in the area of Nahal Kalach in the Carmel Reserve.
The initial information the unit received was about a 56-year-old hiker from Kiryat Ata who was hiking with her family in Nahal Kalach, and during the route she tripped and injured her ankle, a fracture was suspected.
A paramedic from the unit's medical staff gave her medical treatment.
The TAJ team (climbing, gliding and rescue) built a rope system with which the shirt was lifted on a stretcher. She was later evacuated on a stretcher trip outside the reserve where an ambulance was waiting for her and evacuated her to the Rambam Hospital.
According to Nir Hershkovitz, RTG inspector and rescuer at the "Galil-Carmel" rescue unit:
"We were called to rescue a lady who fell while walking in Nahal Kalah and there was a suspicion of a fractured ankle. A rescue team joined the injured woman in the field, because of the difficult terrain conditions, the TAG (climbing, gliding and rescue) team rescued the lady with the help of a rope system. After an examination and treatment by the unit's paramedic, which included immobilization and dressing of the leg, she was evacuated from the area on a stretcher trip to the outside of the river, and from there an ambulance evacuated her for further examinations and treatment."
