At the intersection of the streets Shaar Ha-Levanon with the central axis Sderot Hanasi Mittamari rises a pair of panorama buildings that are identified and characterize the center.
Panorama Towers
One of the towers is a 24-story luxury apartment tower, rising to a height of 88 meters. In the second tower is the 23-story Dan Panorama Hotel, which belongs to the Dan Hotels chain. The hotel rises to a height of 85 meters and is the highest hotel in the city. The towers, designed by the architects Shlomo Gilad and Hichiel Comet, were built between the years 1986-1980, in the area that was, until the establishment of the state, the area of a German guest house of the Carmel Mission.
In the days to be repaired, the Dan Panorama Hotel, which is one of the pair of buildings, is a focus and center for foreign and domestic tourism for many visitors who come to the north of the country.
Today, a residence is used and houses the evacuees from the north of Kiryat Shmona Shlomi and its neighbors as well as evacuees from the south of the country from the city of Sderot who have already left their homes for over half a year and the end is not in sight.
personal opinion
With great care, and this is my opinion, thanks to many evacuees who live in the hotel line of Sderot Hanasi, including the Dan Panorama Hotel, Bay View, Dan Hotel and surrounding hotels, Haifa has become more lively and lively. Admittedly a forced reality, but a feeling that life after October 7, 2023 changed life in downtown Haifa.
Haifa in painting
"There is a girl in Haifa, she lives on Panorama Street", wrote Haim Hefer in 1957, in his famous poem for the "Theatre Club Quartet".

The Carmel Center and the Panorama buildings, markers on paper 21/29.7 cm, drawing: Yossi Lubalsky
When I see and paint Haifa, I want to bring youth, innovation and beauty to the city and remove the "tired" and official layer of the city just like Haim Hefer's song. Thanks to the use of the marker technique, Haifa did not look more colorful and received an expression of change. Here in the painting you see the Panorama Towers associated with the Carmel Center and the pine and cypress trees spread out at the intersection of Shaar HaLebanon Street and Hanasi Boulevard.
I hope that the evacuees will return safely to their homes and that my city Haifa will continue on the path of renewal and prosperity, and perhaps the recent elections will give their signal for the continuation.
I really liked the paintings, and the explanations about this part of Haifa, about 10 minutes from where I live, flooded me with longing for quiet days, without wars. Waiting that we will soon be able to walk around again in peace and love in our beloved country, and our affections. Thank you for the "tour and guidance. Irit.L.
There is no doubt that if the left surrenders all of Yesha as they wanted with disengagement 2, and the shooting expands to the Lower Galilee as well, it will be very lively among tens of thousands more evacuees in Haifa.
This text is really grotesque.
An article with hope.
Thanks.
The Carmel Center was once a lively center, a meeting place for Cafe Par, and the Fingan restaurant today is a place of passing and never returning.
In a country like Israel, a city like Haifa is a blessed thing. No riots, no propaganda, no threats, no appearing in the edition every Monday and Thursday. Silence, boredom, amazing views and the biggest shopping mall in Israel. There is nothing here but everything is here.
Such a beautiful painting.
The article is interesting.
Yossi, you are a great artist.
aspirate you
Well done to you, my friend Yossi Lubalski, for the article. Shalom and blessed Sabbath
It's fascinating to see how the Dan Panorama Hotel, now a shelter for evacuees, has become a vibrant hub of activity in Haifa. Your observations bring a personal touch to understanding the city's transformation amid challenging times. I'm touched by the resilience of the evacuees and the community's adaptation. It's a poignant reminder of the strength found in unity and adaptation.
I will preface an answer to the question "Will the Carmelit line really take 4 years? After all, in Gush Dan they are talking about 20"
A. The Carmelit 2 line will pass entirely under the axis of the ridge in the excavation = minimal disturbance to the neighborhoods
B. Some of the entrances to the stations will be built without the need for heavy digging thanks to the topography that descends from the ridge towards the neighborhoods
third. It is not about twenty municipalities, but one city, so the planning is easier and faster, as well as the execution.
d. It is only 10 km (for comparison, the elevated section of the Red Line in Tel Aviv is 12 km)
God. There are 15 stations along its length (and it can be easily extended to Dalia, Usafia, Nesher above ground.
By 2030 the Carmelit 2 line will be able to free the ridge from dependence on private vehicles.
About 30 percent of the trips are made from the ridge neighborhoods along the ridge line.
The neighborhoods around the center of Carmel and within it are getting crowded. Only the Zeevi towers being built on Megiddo Street will add hundreds of residents.
It is no longer possible to add more roads and the traffic jams will get bigger and bigger - they are already unbearable and they will only get longer.
For decades, the situation has been ignored, which is getting worse with each TMA 38 that adds residents to the area.
It is time to implement the Carmelit 2 line from the French Carmel to the university.
A metro with quick access along the axis will provide a double answer: both to encourage trade, entertainment and work along the axis and to reduce traffic jams in it.
Carmelit Line 2 will bring shoppers to the shopping centers and provide new development and traffic options.
If promoted in a serious manner with two-year planning and 3-4-year execution, it could be ready in 2030 and we must think ahead.
Thank you very much, dear Vared, for the encouraging words 🙏🌷
Pride and pleasure to the beautiful city of Haifa when it has in its arms a wonderful artist like you, dear Yossi, that you often paint every corner, every building and beach. in different techniques and amazing every time.
