Shaver Yegur, also known as Etak Carmel, is a magical corner of nature during the flowering season which is still taking place this month (April 2024) and is about to end very soon. Go for a walk in the Holy of Holies!
How do you get to the place?
Immediately after the turn to Nesher City there is a turn to the Country Club and after the square turn to the dirt path that ends up at Kibbutz Yegor. In the northwest of the dirt path, there is a moderate ascent through a flow track to the side of the mountain through a grove of tall cacti.
Here - you have arrived!
The blooming season
During the blooming season and at the end you can meet the chicory, the false holly, the poppy flowers, the fig leaves and the hedgehog.
Encounter with insects
You will also meet various insects such as the swallowtail butterflies, its colorful transparent relative, the Sodom Danaet butterfly and a striped butterfly.
The dark side - Shaver Yegor
The Yagor fault is a geological extension of the Syrian-African fault in Israel. It passes through Yakneam and over Yegur, Nesher, Neve Shanan, northwest of the port of Haifa and ends a few kilometers into the sea. The entire area is enclosed by a fence and is used as a pasture for cows. It is not recommended to hike up due to several weak points up the mountain. In the hills there is "ballit movement" " - a geological concept that describes subsidence and ground movements.
Avoid entering caves
In the dangerous part of the ascent, there are several caves, some of which are covered - needless to say, entering them is dangerous. In general - entering unknown caves is dangerous due to the various bacteria, parasites and ticks that may be in them or in this case the risk of an avalanche. On very rainy days the fenced area is extremely dangerous due to water falls and landslides.

Remember to wear high shoes, take enough water and be careful of snakes during this period, especially during this period.
