An extraordinary achievement for the Israeli team in the European Mathematics Olympiad for girls
The State of Israel and the education system are heralded by the inspiring and proud achievement of the Israeli mathematics team, who participated in the European Mathematics Olympiad for girls and picked up gold and bronze medals. In the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO - European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad), this year was held in Georgia and 204 participants from 54 countries took part in it. The State of Israel has been participating in the Olympics since 2016.
Director General of the Ministry of Education, Meir Shimoni:
The achievements of the competition in this challenging period in which we are now, testify to the continued growth and success of the country's young generation, to the resilience of our country and to its high-quality human capital. Go forth and succeed.
Olga Basov - from Haifa won a bronze medal
The representative of the Israeli mathematics team that participated in the Olympiad Neta Ilani - from Rehovot, an 6th grade student from De Shalit School and a student of the Alpha program - won a gold medal and was ranked XNUMXth out of all the participants from around the world. Olga Basov - from Haifa, a XNUMXth grade student from Meironi C - won a bronze medal.
The competition took place during two exam days, in each of which the female students were required to solve a 4.5-hour test, consisting of 3 questions of a high level of difficulty in the fields of elementary mathematics: algebra, combinatorics, geometry and number theory.

Director General of the Center for Future Scientists of the Maimonides Foundation, Eli Fried:
Neta and Olga - the ambassadors of excellence of the State of Israel - demonstrated extraordinary abilities and brought respect and appreciation to the State of Israel and the values it represents. I welcome the cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the academic institutions and the fact that, despite the difficult reality, we manage to enable the participation and representation of Israeli students in international competitions around the world.

Israel national team training
The Ministry of Education and the Center for Future Scientists of the Maimonides Foundation lead the training of Israel's science teams for participation in the International Olympics. The student delegation that participated in the Olympics was trained at the Weizmann Institute of Science by a team of coaches - the academic director, Prof. Dmitry Novikov and the head coach, Lev Radzivilovsky. The students were accompanied by the head of the delegation, Dr. Dan Carmon, Professor Maria Gorlik and Jordan Modai.
The Ministry of Education and the Center for Future Scientists point out that in a short time the selections for the Israeli science teams that will compete in next year's Olympiad season will be held - the senior teams in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and computer science and the junior team. The screenings will take place online and you can keep up to date with the dates and try sample tests. Search online: Israel national teams in the sciences.
President of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Prof. Alon Chen:
Warm congratulations to the members of the Israeli team for the European Mathematics Olympiad for girls for the impressive abilities they demonstrated in the competition. It is gratifying to see that despite the complexity of the period, which surely added a challenge to those already present in the competition, they managed to reach such respectable achievements. We at the Weizmann Institute of Science are proud to support the training of the Israeli team in mathematics. The investment and commitment of the teams and the girls themselves are inspiring and set an example for girls and boys across the country who are the future generation of science in Israel.
Well done! Lots of pride and strength for the amazing girls!
Well done and good luck
Bravo 👍👍👍👍👍
respect! respect!
Out of 204 participants, 109 won medals of some kind and several dozen others received commendation
But this does not reduce the achievement of our girls (all the delegations had 4 representatives for each country, except for Israel 2, why? Budget) in the USA, Australia and Canada the last names of the winners had an interesting "Asian" smell why?
