About 60% of the budget is directed to education and welfare
The development budget for 2024 amounts to NIS 2.6 billion for the construction and upgrading of public and educational institutions, maintenance of urban infrastructure and upgrading of old streets.
At the city council meeting that took place this week (Wednesday, April 17.4.24, 2024), the municipality's annual budget for XNUMX was approved.
The vision of the city
The budget expresses the city's vision to improve the quality of life while strengthening Kiryat Ata's position as a major metropolitan center, alongside ensuring a high level of service and maintaining a balanced budget in a difficult period of war and rising prices in the economy.
The municipality's budget for 2024 stands at a record amount of about NIS 600 million, which is an increase of over NIS 50 million compared to the previous year's budget. About 60% of the budget (NIS 347 million) is directed to education and welfare. According to the data, 40% of the municipality's budget is based on government participation and 60% are the municipality's own revenues.
The issues in which the municipality will invest
Beyond the continued significant investment in the education budget, the municipality will continue to invest in the issues of the appearance of the city, the cultivation of the public space, the quality of the environment, assistance to needy populations and the expansion of services for the resident.
The development budget for 2024 amounts to NIS 2.6 billion (out of which approximately NIS 2.3 billion was approved). Of the development budget, approximately 70% is directed to investment in infrastructure (1.8 billion) and approximately 30% is directed to investment in educational and public institutions.

The development plan includes continued investment in the infrastructure of the old city alongside the establishment of new neighborhoods. As part of the accelerated development plan, many projects will continue including infrastructure maintenance and street renovation, construction and renovation of educational and public institutions, establishment of a new school and kindergartens, construction and upgrading of playgrounds, roofing of sports fields, continued replacement of street lighting, upgrading of street furniture and storage tools, and more.
Among other things, works are planned to enlarge the Yavneh school, Beit Ya'akov, the construction of a new school on Beshat street, the construction of an innovative elementary school and a school for the gifted. In addition, a new school and kindergartens are planned in the new neighborhood of Givat Elonim and the establishment of a day care center in the neighborhood of Givat Alonim.
A cultural event for all sectors
Alongside the investment in education, infrastructure and the city's appearance, the municipality will continue to invest in diverse cultural events for all sectors while placing emphasis on the field of youth and sports, alongside unique community projects of the welfare department and the gender equality department.
