(Hai Fe) - The Mayor of Haifa today (Tuesday, 16.04.24/XNUMX/XNUMX) informed the "Energy Infrastructures" company of the cancellation of the business license for the tank farm in Kiryat Haim in order to maintain the public's security, safety and health and to prevent possible damage to human life, bodies and property.
This notice comes after a hearing procedure, which was held for the company on 31/3/24 at the municipal offices regarding the construction of dozens of buildings and containers, without a legal building permit, some of which are used to store hazardous materials, adjacent to residential buildings, business complexes and crowded entertainment.
The buildings were discovered as part of a planning inspection conducted and carried out following a hearing held for the company in December 2020 in view of severe odor hazards in the farm's surroundings. The company was asked to present drawings and maps and in the investigation it was found that there are no matches between the old maps for which a business license was issued and the new ones. As a result, in February 2022, the municipality sent the company a warning before taking procedures for prohibited use of buildings without a permit.
Despite the warning, and until the end of 2023, the company did not submit a request for legalization or a request for its length to regulate the buildings. Therefore, in light of the situation, a hearing was held for the company and the decision was made.
In the document summarizing the hearing process that was forwarded to the company, Mayor Yona Yahav states that "at the core of the decision is the overriding interest of maintaining public security, safety and health and preventing imminent harm to human life, body and property. The matter of course takes on a new importance in light of the great tensions, the line about our areas now".
The mayor also points out that "in the state of affairs detailed at length in the hearing document and the fact that hazardous materials are stored in significant quantities and in close proximity to residential areas, business complexes and crowded recreation areas, the need and obligation to take all necessary actions to protect the public's peace and safety becomes acute, and therefore it is not possible to approve the Continuation of the business in the format in which it currently operates. It should be noted and clarified that the municipality notified the company in 2015 of the obligation to carry out the regulation on the spot, while giving repeated lengths to carry out the regulation and also clarified to the company the legal, public, security and health implications of granting permission to operate the business in the format and circumstances existing at this time. Therefore, the Haifa municipality decided to cancel the business license of the company 501 - the tank farm, with all the implications of that."

From the notebook of 2001 it was given to Lahi Pa in response:
The Energy Infrastructure Company stated that the action of the mayor Mr. Yona Yahav was received as a complete surprise. The company will study the decision and its meanings and the possible ways of responding. It must be emphasized that the tank farm in Haifa is a strategic infrastructure facility for the State of Israel and especially for the security agencies, especially at this fateful time, when the continuity of the supply of petroleum distillates is of utmost importance. In general, the storage facilities of the Energy Infrastructure Company are built according to the international standards used in the oil industry and are operated in accordance with the strictest regulatory guidelines regarding safety and firefighting, environmental quality, operation, maintenance, and construction.
Instead of addressing the problem and clearing the words, they added new tanks. During the Gulf War, it was announced that they were emptied...lies. Until a disaster happens, they will not be addressed. Now it will drag on in courts for another 30 years.
Borovski filed the claim to the High Court for their conduct and demand to close.
You have to understand that Yahav is putting on shows and in practice it was run by businessmen who own the petrochemicals.
Don't believe the spins - we will only believe when we see the petrochemicals move out of the Haifa Bay and bulldozers clear the area of the tank farms in Zan, etc. And this mayor acted in the past and secretly acts *against* their removal
better late than never.
It should have been closed 20 years ago after the Second Lebanon - just guess which mayor prevented it?!
Cliché?
Mayor Mr. Yona Yahav, your promise has been fulfilled, all the best for your determination and drawing lessons since the previous elections, blessings and success in your position.
Mayor on the face
