Independence Day in Carmel Castle will be celebrated this year in a limited format, with an emphasis on the audience of children and the community, while being sensitive and taking into account the spirit of the times and the security situation. This is what the mayor, David Cohen, decided today (Wednesday) at the end of a series of consultations with the relevant municipal authorities and following a survey of residents conducted in recent days.
Last week, and in accordance with the policy of transparency and public participation led by the mayor, Dodo Cohen, a survey was distributed among the residents of Carmel Castle, in which they were asked to choose how the 76th Independence Day would be marked and celebrated in the city.

2,014 residents of all ages participated in the survey:
51.2 percent believed that it should be celebrated in a limited way, 35.3 percent believed that the events should be canceled completely, and only 13.5 percent believed that the holiday events should be held in a normal format like every year.
At a meeting held by the mayor, Dodo Cohen instructed the officials of the municipality and the Tirat Carmel Community Center to formulate an adapted plan in the coming days, so that the city will celebrate Independence Day with sensitivity and in the spirit of the times, with an emphasis on local artists, content for children, the whole family and the whole community in the city.
At the same time, it was decided that this year there will not be a D-Nor fireworks show at the Independence Day events, and instead a drone show will be held for the first time in the Carmel Castle, during which dozens of drones will fly into the sky of the city displaying a variety of spectacular and colorful symbols, accompanied by festive music and creating a breathtaking show.

Mayor of Carmel Castle, Dodo Cohen:
Holding the Independence Day events during a time of war and bereavement, when 133 abductees are still in Hamas captivity, is a huge challenge. In view of the circumstances and the national tragedy, we shared with the public in debating whether to hold events as usual, in a reduced format, or to cancel them completely. The unequivocal results led me to direct all the municipal authorities to formulate a plan within the framework of which we can celebrate the 76th Independence Day with pride and sensitivity, with an emphasis on unity and community in Carmel Castle. We will never let our enemies prevail over the Israeli spirit.
