The Beit Biram campus is the flagship branch of the Reali School and is located at 15 Abba Khushi Boulevard in Haifa. One of the most important buildings in it is the auditorium building named after Sh. Pevzner.
The real school
The Harieli School was founded in 1913 against the background of the "War of Languages" which was fought between advocates of learning in the Hebrew language and those who advocated studies in the German language. The Reali was intended to be a school where students learn in Hebrew. Today, the school is spread over several campuses: in Hadar, in the center of Carmel (Meto s) And in the estate, otherwise known as the Biram complex and house.

Beit Biram campus
The campus is called Arthur Byram, The founder of the Reali School and its first director. Arthur Biram (1878-1967), was born in Germany and studied Semitic and classical languages at the University of Berlin, as well as Islamic culture and philosophy. He immigrated to Israel in 1913, but with the outbreak of the First World War he enlisted in the German army and returned to the management of the Reali In 1919. In 1953, at the initiative and with the support of David Ben-Gurion, he founded the military boarding school, which still operates today. In 1954, he was awarded the "Israel Prize" in the field of education.
the auditorium
The auditorium or "Pevzner Hall" is named after S. Pevzner who was one of the first of the Hebrew settlement in Haifa, one of the founders of the Technion and Haifa's Hadar neighborhood. The building that was inaugurated in 1962 as a conference hall is a unique building due to The overhanging and concave roof which was born from a creative collaboration between the architect, Prof. Yochanan Ratner, and an ambitious building engineer, Prof. Freddy Ben Arroyo.
In 2003, the building underwent an extensive renovation, according to the plans of the architect Rami Ran. Without damaging the original character of the building, a spacious foyer with glass walls and a wide front was added to the building.
The designers of the original building
Prof. Yohanan Ratner, the architect of the building, one of the pioneers of the "Haganah", a general in the IDF and later dean of the Faculty of Architecture at the Technion. with the many public buildings he designed The Faculty of Aeronautics, the first building on the Technion's Neve Shanan campus.
Prof. Freddy Ben Arroyo, was born in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria in 1923. He studied civil engineering at the Technion and was a beloved teacher at the Faculty of Architecture where he was considered "an engineer with the soul of an architect". Besides being a respected civil engineer, he also writes poetry in the English language according to the classical Japanese poetry format "Haiku". These days he is celebrating 101 years among his family, his teaching colleagues and those who cherish his personality (full disclosure - I was privileged to be appointed both with his students and with his teaching colleagues).
"The Real" and Israeli society
Today, the school has about 5000 students from kindergarten to 25,000, who study at the four campuses around the city of Haifa. Over 45 graduates of the school are in key positions in Israeli society. Among the graduates are 4 brides and grooms of "Pers Israel", 3 military officers Lim, 74 judges of the Supreme Court. XNUMX decorations and military medals were awarded to the graduates of the school. The former president of the country, the late Ezer Weizman, also studied at Rieli.

Very interesting article. I studied at the Reali school from 50st to 25th grade. I am a graduate of the 80th class of the school. My late mother was a graduate of the XNUMXth class of the school, and my son graduated (with honors) from the XNUMXth class of the school. Great pride!
thank you for your response! Three generations of humble followers - very beautiful!
What is this weekly rant
At every opportunity they pushed the students: "The Reali left his mark...". Then do you still want such students to "humble to the sect"?
All the best to you my friend Dr. David Bar On. Shabbat peace and blessing to you.
Thank you very much, Rafi, my friend, have a good and blessed week!
