In a magical garden that stretches between Harkafot Street and Narkisim Street in Western Carmel, a moving ceremony was held on Wednesday 20.3.24/XNUMX/XNUMX in the afternoon in memory of Daria Lytle, Dasha by her many friends.    

A year ago, on March 17, 2023, Dasha was brutally murdered by her partner and the father of her three young daughters while they slept in a nearby room. Dasha lived on Derech Hayam street, near the garden and a nature and flora lover used to visit it with her daughters.

Shari Aharoni, one of the leaders of the community garden since its establishment several years ago, opened the ceremony.

"We regret that this is what brought you to us, to this place that we cultivate here... One of our goals is to strengthen the values ​​of community, listening and tolerance through action in nature, including planting trees, as a way to think about life and the future.

When we learned a year ago that there was an act of violence and murder in our neighborhood, the representatives of the scout tribe 'Ilanot' near here asked to hold an action in the garden and of course we accepted. We realized that something is burning from below that also connects to our desire in the neighborhood to act against violence as a personal example.

Today we will mark the corner stone for the listening and tolerance corner as a commemorative corner for Dasha, in the place where the cypress was planted last year. The Daffodil Garden is a community garden, an open public space given to us by the municipality and we take care of its care, clean up waste, plant trees, sow seeds, work hard here all year round. Our relationship with the scout tribe "Ilanot" made this possible."

Daniela and Mayan, Dasha's best friends, are the last to see her alive

"Dasha was at my house on Thursday 16.3," recalls Daniela in tears. The next day Dasha was murdered. From that moment it became a last hug, a last laugh, a last coffee... I miss her very much, her daughters miss her very much.

I want to ask you to help us not to forget her, there is no family on her side, we are her family, help us not to forget her. On the Sunday that I was looking after Roni, I asked her if she agreed that I would be her adoptive aunt, she said: sure... let's all be their aunts for a bit. "Dasha was a student of the second cycle of the program, Arnon recalls. "She flourished in the academic environment. She was impressive in different ways. Dasha had a difficult life story, experienced childhood without a family, poverty and hunger, and in her adult life experienced violence during the marriage that led to her murder.  

Besides that, Dasha was the most radiant student I knew, with a maturity and intelligence that is rare to meet, certainly in an outstanding program.

From conversations with other lecturers in the department in the seminar she took on the meaning of life, I heard how she gained insights from the very difficult life she faced. Her goal was to become a caregiver and help others. I hope that together we will be able to preserve our collective memory and hope that we will also learn something from her, she knew how to build up from the suffering she experienced."

"We are pained by every death and murder of every woman," Alona said. "Unfortunately, the murder of women crosses sectors and populations and the phenomenon is very painful and unfortunately the phenomenon has been increasing in size in the last year. What you are doing is very exciting...

I did not know Dasha personally, I learned that she was an amazing wife and mother, successful and talented, it hurts to hear. It was important for us to express female solidarity and support, we do many events and workshops to prevent violence, we are open to any initiative on the subject."

Shaked, a 12th grader, manages the KATSAV team in the scout tribe 'Ilanot'. Together with her friends, they carry out community activities: instructors at a home for battered women, volunteers at a home on Haim Street for at-risk youth, and more.

"I didn't know Dasha personally," says Shaked. "When it happened, we looked for the residents of the neighborhood and the scout tribe, with the understanding that there was something shocking here and we cannot move to the agenda.

The memorial events for Dasha are very important to me, it is important to keep mentioning her, to talk about her life, about who she was, she sounds like an amazing woman. It is important that we be vigilant and always be there for each other. We will continue to mention it here every year."
