(haipo) - On Bat Galim Promenade, which is frequented by many people every day, there is a section of path tens of meters long, near the place that connects to the Allenby interchange, where the road becomes so narrow that in a situation where several people want to cross it at the same time, they cannot do so safely. Passers-by are often forced to climb the rock or squeeze to the side of the path in a way that endangers their safety.

David Friedman from Haifa regularly visits the Bat Galim neighborhood in Haifa as a cyclist. David tells Lehi Pa that every time he comes with his bike to the section in question (behind the cable car station) he wonders to himself how it is possible that this is not taken care of and continues to endanger the many people who spend time on the boardwalk every day.

According to Friedman, the rest of the boardwalk is a few meters wide (between 3-5 m) when suddenly this section of the road becomes significantly narrower, so much so that at most two people can pass through it without endangering themselves or others.

Friedman claims that the section is so narrow and when several people come to it who want to cross, the situation becomes problematic: "It is very disturbing that in the area connecting the Allenby interchange with the Bat Galim boardwalk, the boardwalk becomes very narrow. The connection between the interchange in the Allenby area and the boardwalk itself is less than 2 meters wide and does not allow more than two people to pass through it. In a situation where more than three people arrive, which happens a lot, one of them has to climb the rock or the slope, which is a safety hazard, literally."

"For comparison, the width of the boardwalk in Tel Aviv is 18 meters. The same is true for the walking route between Tel Aviv and Herzliya. This is a tourist area, it cannot be that narrow. There are planning regulations, and it is not possible to make a boardwalk 1.3 meters wide. This is a connection behind the cable car, which is 60-80 m long, which is very narrow.
The municipality must take care of this hazard. It particularly bothers me that this is a repair that does not require a large amount of money to carry it out, so even from this point of view there is no sense in continuing to delay it and thereby endangering the rat race."

In response to the question of whether he tried to do something to change the situation, or whether he contacted any party, Friedman replied that he contacted the Haifa municipality at least twice, and received an answer from them that the matter would be settled later. "It is a place of touristic importance and bustling with life almost at all hours of the day, tourists also come to it from all over the country and the world, and also many Haifa residents who regularly spend their leisure time there, or carry out sports activities. This place connects the promenades, it is very important that it be taken care of as soon as possible." He concludes.
It used to be Ashkenazi-Sparidis. Today, leftists-rightists, ultra-Orthodox-secular. It is a people of quarrelsome people who are in conflict with themselves and no wonder also with the whole people. A people who hate each other more than the world hates it.
Maybe enough?????.
And regardless, Jonah, do yourself a favor. Add bike lanes. in the whole city. Let Freud down and up safely. Learned from Khuldai….
Thank you Yona.
Hoi hoi hoi... or maybe oh oh oh
Indeed a shameful trip to the third city. largest in the country
And what about the blue bins they installed and are an eyesore?
Not to mention the amount
Every 5 to 20 meters of bin if it wasn't at our expense I would burst out laughing
Let them learn from Japan without trash at all
A new policy censors comments against the city's trash that for 16 years did not take care of the neglected promenade in Bat Galim so that the municipality will publish it on the website?!
Who is to blame for the state of the failed boardwalk and the lack of a surfing center if not the new-old current mayor.. you voted for him and you will eat it
The municipal inspectors are celebrating on the Bat Galim boardwalk, there is no path for bicycles, so indulge in reports from the Allenby interchange to the casino
Problems of Haifa pensioners who have nothing to complain about. What nonsense in the juice. It's really life-threatening to walk on the grass or to be polite and give way to one another. But yeah, it won't hurt to expand a bit, it's all in a day's work with Bobcat.
And okay, you can say that the boardwalk is a relatively narrow path -
But there is at least a meter there and even a disabled person in a wheelchair can pass there safely,
All this excessive wording is not only unnecessary but simply incorrect.
It's a shame because you were able to raise awareness of a relevant issue here, which is that it is necessary for a bicycle.
No one will die from this transition and no one will profit from this bland article either
Surely Kalish Yona Yahav or Mitzna are guilty. Or Gural, in whose days the area was built. Or the teacher of the architect who designed the place. He is guilty because he gave an unsuccessful architect's certificate and then he could build us such a boardwalk.
The architects who designed the promenades for the beaches of Haifa did and they met the goals of introducing all the functions to the 20 to 25 meter wide promenade, this includes; There is a strip of sand, there is a passage (in the wide part) for 3 adults, there are kiosks, there are light poles, there are benches, there are taps and toilets, there are even tables for NIS players,
A kilometer south there is a narrow area adjacent to a bike path in a busier area. This is a much more dangerous spot where there have been several accidents between pedestrians and skateboards/scooters/bicycles
A common problem in all of Haifa. They prefer to give space to private cars at the expense of pedestrians and cyclists.
How fun David Friedman is, he is linked to the system. There are thousands of much more serious things in the city that no newspaper treats those who complain about them and the municipality also ignores repeated requests.
very true. An uncomfortable place and when walking around with dogs it's really difficult.
Bro, as much as I loved the Bat Galim Promenade, when the cable car opened, everything was different and beautiful, there was grass, benches to sit on today, everything is empty, and as usual, the Haifa municipality doesn't care, the main thing is they know how to collect property tax and that's all
The article is very interesting and important, and I would add that the boardwalk from Bat Galim to the sect park has no toilets at all. Imagine a three kilometer long promenade without public toilets, even in Gaza there is no such thing. Shame on the municipality
Kalish is guilty
There is a sign that prohibits cyclists from entering the Bat Galim promenade. It's a shame there isn't a continuation of the bicycle route that comes from the Hecht section.
Don't you have anything else to write negative articles about?
"So how do you sleep at night my little journalist"
Kalish is also to blame here. It is a fault that there are professionals in the municipality who do not know their work. She dismissed them and did not worry that Yona would return them
My response on behalf of the municipality…..a. It's not cheap. B. There are much more dangerous things like the worn out traffic island at the crosswalk at the Horev intersection to which we were contacted many months ago and our answer was...it will be included in the work plan...so what is the problem??? In Haifa... there is no plan. There is no work... and even if you can see the stupid triangles crumbling and breaking in the traffic island in the center of Carmel... then there is no shame either
Just to clarify, it is forbidden to ride bicycles on the Bat Galim promenade, and the section in question is not intended for cyclists. Riding is only allowed after the cable car and to the south, where there are organized bike paths.
(There is no claim in this statement as if Mr. Friedman rode in the place, of course the place is too narrow for pedestrians as well).
Cars are not allowed, that's right. The municipality of Haifa prefers not to develop bicycle paths and let cyclists travel in this area on the road, because who cares about the cyclists in the city!
The narrow section of the path behind the cable car station needs to be widened urgently.
A. You are not allowed to ride a bicycle there.
B. The promenade continues on a higher level which is very wide.
third. What's the problem with being civilized and managing to pass.
d. Anyone who can jump on the rocks or on the grass will have a good time with it, and it wouldn't hurt for other people to exercise their bodies a bit

Is the war over? Nothing to do?
The Shamalani do not know how to make a path
How is this related to the left?
You might have a slightly smarter response or that's all you can say. What about leftists? or lefties. You too can benefit from fixing the situation. The municipality of Haifa should respond to this.
The main thing is to say leftists??? Education from Beit Bibi 😡😡😡
The way the problem is described, there is poor planning here, I would actually suspect the planning of a brainless bibist.
It's best to be like you
You saw Amsalem, all the neurosis has dripped from you
