Rami Klein's solo exhibition presents an unconventional point of view - artistic, poetic and scientific - on marine nature. The exhibition will also include an active space for the whole family with a variety of workshops as well as digital activity throughout the museum.
On 16.3.24/17/00 at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m., a new exhibition will open at the National Maritime Museum in Haifa called "The Sea and its Fullness". The exhibition is mostly a solo exhibition by Dr. Rami Klein, a marine biologist, underwater photographer and senior lecturer at the Faculty of Marine Sciences in Makmorot, the Rupin Academic Center, who has published many books on the underwater world.
The exhibition includes three parts, presenting an artistic, poetic and scientific view of marine nature. Unlike what is customary in the world of academic research, Klein refuses to surrender to the boundaries that separate scientific research, art and poetry and connects in his work the eye, the head and the heart.

According to Adi Shelah, the curator of the National Maritime Museum:
The three parts of the exhibition reflect the meaning and importance of underwater photography for Klein. The photographs, some of which were taken with a wide-angle lens and some with a close-up lens, are used to expand his observation of the marine environment and the biological structures found in it and to discover the different and wonderful in the rich marine world of the coral reef. The exhibition reflects the movement that takes place between biological research, aesthetic experience and poetic expression.
The art of marine nature
An art project that responds to the colorful and formative beauty of the sea creatures, which was even exhibited during the corona in Times Square in New York. Klein modeled motifs from the bodies of marine creatures from different biological groups and created a spectacular kaleidoscopic pattern from them, which is presented in the museum in a video installation.

According to Rami Klein:
In this project I chose to combine two worlds to which I have an affinity: the scientific and the artistic. The exhibition features underwater photographs of animals that I took on coral reefs in various parts of the world, alongside images based on computer graphic manipulations that I made on sections of their color patterns.

Points of light in the dark A poetic view of marine nature
An exhibition based on a collection of works from Klein's book, "In Many Days", in which close-up photographs of sea creatures are combined with short poems and scientific explanations. The biological phenomena observed up close and detached from their immediate environment are absorbed in the poems with an emotional charge of dreams and fears, mental resilience, renewal and love.
live together | Shared life in the underwater world
The main exhibition invites visitors to learn about the symbiotic relationship that exists between creatures in coral reefs and the cooperation between them, which allows them to generate biological profit and increase their fitness and survival. The exhibition presents cooperative living strategies by which living things can live and thrive side by side.

According to Shelah:
The exhibition also provokes thought about the meaning of the concept of "resilience" and its discovery reflected in marine nature. It offers us a metaphorical way of observing the world in which we live, on its peaks and abysses, and allows us to see it as a way to build mental-human resilience.
Along with the exhibition, the video work "Water World" by Yuval Pinchas, Haifa, sailor, diving guide and underwater photographer will also be shown. The video shows a variety of spectacular creatures living on the reef and follows their unique behavior and the interactions between them. It is based on photographs taken at reefs around the world, during the day and at nightfall. The video shows a selection of examples of sharks and shoals of fish and illustrates how life in a shoal contributes to the fish's chances of survival.

Active space for the whole family and digital games
The exhibition will also include an active space for the whole family, with a variety of workshops, including: Symbiosis at Sea: creating an animation video using the stop motion technique, whose heroes are marine animals in the coral reef, who cooperate with each other; Song of tongues: a composition of poems inspired by photographs from the exhibition, which will be displayed on a magnetic board; Sea games corner and more.
On the mobile-friendly site, games, surprising facts, tasks, video and audio clips have been incorporated that accompany visitors throughout the visit to the museum. Each exhibition has a dedicated screen with pictures, information and activities. On the third floor there is a "digital escape game", where the children have to save a vessel that was swept away in a storm through a fun puzzle game.
In addition to the new exhibit, the museum's permanent exhibits include archaeological and historical exhibits that deal with shipping in the Mediterranean Sea over 5,000 years, the "Tel Hadigim" exhibit that is dedicated to the coastal settlement at the site of Tel Shekmo in Haifa, "time capsules" that show rare exhibits from Egypt, ancient globes and maps, and more.
For children and families, there are exhibits and activity areas, including the "Save! SOS" exhibit, dedicated to marine gods and superheroes and the importance of preserving marine nature, the "Pirates: Between Truth and Legend" exhibit, and play and creative spaces for the whole family on all floors of the museum.

Until when is the exhibition?
A great exhibition
