Yellow is a primary color. Like the other two primary colors, red and blue, it has conflicting meanings. Red warms and loves but also crosses moral boundaries and hurts. The blue expands the breath but is also cold and distant.
The yellow, the one that the Chinese emperor loved so much, symbolizes the sun that gives life, symbolizes joy and expansion, optimism and creativity. But in other places on the globe it represents treachery, breach of trust, hatred, jealousy and bitterness, diseases and racism. A matter of geography and culture.

The yellow color has high visibility and has elements that relax the eyes. That is why yellow is used in warning signs, those that need to be seen from a distance, those that require special attention, and especially when recommending to stay away from places where there may be harm.
"Caution of mines" in areas where a border has been crossed such as in the Golan Heights, yellow of "warning against radioactive radiation" in research areas and various testing devices. Yellow also indicates alleged news information, it is not clear exactly what its source is or if it is true, but it simulates exposure and defamation of officials and public figures. Yellow press, they call it, or "tabloids", perhaps because the paper on which the news was once printed was yellowed by exposure to the sun.

Yellow patch for humiliation
The idea of marking Jews with a yellow sign that distinguishes them from others, appears for the first time when Jerusalem was conquered by Islam around the year 644, in a set of laws known as the "Treaty of Omar". In 887 the governor of Sicily also decided to mark the Jews with a patch in the shape of a donkey and required them to wear a special hat and a yellow belt.
In the France of Louis IX, the Jews were required to wear a yellow patch on their clothes, and during the Inquisition, all foreigners were required to wear a yellow patch. In the 9th century in England the Jews were required to mark in the form of a yellow patch in the shape of the tablets of the covenant and in Germany the Jewish merchants were required to wear a patch in the form of a yellow circle.
It started in the Islamic empire of Harun al-Rashid, 807 AD, when he ordered all Jewish subjects to wear a pointed yellow hat and a yellow belt. This law remained in force until the middle of the 19th century in Islamic countries.
In Europe the hats are seen starting from the 11th century in the area of Germany. The Lateran Conference, which convened in 1215 to discuss church matters, determined among other things that all Jews and Muslims would wear the yellow hat. The Jews' hat called it, and from it the pointed witches' hats were derived. In the region of Iran, the Safavid Empire, there were laws to discriminate against Jews and, among other things, they were required to wear a yellow patch on their clothes.
Over the years, the use of the hat decreased, but Jews continued to be marked with a yellow ribbon or a red hat, and when the Nazis came to power, they required the Jews to wear a yellow patch with the word Jew, in the local language, which became one of the symbols of the horror of the Holocaust.
Yellow in politics
Yellow has been associated with liberalism since the British Liberal Party made it their color. Yellow was also used by the nationalist parties in India, and in Israel yellow was used by messianic movements such as the Kahana movement in Israel.
In 2018, a yellow vest protest arose in France, those vests that must be worn to be seen at night. For several weeks, roads were blocked by protesters wearing yellow vests and as a result the president changed lines in French policy.
Even in the local elections in Haifa, yellow was used in ads, but it seems that instead of radiating an emphasis of joy and warmth, the yellow distanced as if there was a warning sign.
Yellow ribbon for the return of the kidnapped
The color yellow symbolized the cavalry in the Northern Army during the Civil War in the United States. The women who stayed at home wore yellow scarves as a sign of solidarity with their loved ones who went to war. The northern army won, and yellow became a symbol of hope for the return home of the warriors and captives.
During World War II, the Andrews Sisters sang "She Has a Yellow Ribbon Around Her Neck" for her loved one who is far away, and in 1973 the hit "Yellow Ribbon Ties Around the Ancient Oak Tree" appeared in the context of the prisoners of war in Vietnam. In 1983, Israel was hosted in Germany for the Eurovision Song Contest, with Ofra Haza and the song "Hai". The band wore yellow clothes designed for them by Doreen Frankfurt, some say to turn the sign of disgrace into a sign of victory.
The struggle for the return of the abductees also received the yellow ribbon as one of the symbols of the struggle, either as a reminder of the yellow patch or as a symbol of anticipation for the return of the abductees.
yellow day bright day
So when someone tells you "have a yellow day", he doesn't necessarily hate you or is jealous. Sometimes he asks you to be extra careful, warns you of expected hazards and other times he simply greets you with warmth and light, on a wonderful and great day.
