About 1,500 women from all over the country - Jewish, Arab, Bedouin and Druze - volunteered to take part in a new support project for the families of the abductees and the bereaved families and together they created the "Carpet of Good Hope", which is on display starting today at the Dado beach promenade in Haifa.
"Carpet of Good Hope"
The "Carpet of Good Hope" project is intended to connect women from all the diverse populations in the State of Israel, by jointly making carpets, made by hand, and to highlight a common destiny and the strength of the community in difficult days of war.
For about a month and a half, the women made 700 rugs, which together created a huge rug with an area of 1,500 square meters. The "Good Hope Carpet" is on display starting today, Sunday 25.2.24/XNUMX/XNUMX, near the "Generators Square" on the Dado beach promenade.
A sense of partnership with the bereaved families and with the families of the kidnapped
In creating the tapestry, the participants of the project sought to express identification and create a sense of partnership with the bereaved families and with the families of the abductees from all over the country.
The project, curated by Yael Nitzan, was carried out with the assistance of the Beaches Department of the Haifa Municipality and under the auspices of the "Heritage of Pioneering Women" museum, which will be built in Haifa, in the Wadi Salib neighborhood, during the coming months.
Director of the Beaches Division in Haifa Municipality, Yehiel (Hilik) Amsalem:
The municipality of Haifa is working as much as possible to raise awareness for the return of the abductees. This project joins the other activities, which we carry out for this important purpose, such as painting the lifeguard station at Zamir Beach, swimming and social races, floats and volleyball and Pucholi tournaments held on the beaches.
The Israeli flag is unnecessary on the carpet that is being stepped on
Simply stunningly beautiful. To Rebecca! But no one dares to step on the exciting performance. He is so beautiful and empowering. Want to see this beauty.
To Rebecca Mantz even more that 64 selected derekim put a chop on the abductees
Terribly shrinking to see that in Israel they put the Israeli flag on a carpet. A thing our enemy does to step on him. I just feel insulted.
A very important project, Mia. Have a good and blessed week
A really exciting project
.... Well done!
