After the residents of Haifa observed on Tuesday 13.2.24 jellyfish of unusual size that were seen on the northern shores, and were even stung with stinging stings, I am now bringing you a follow-up article, full of spectacular photographs from our sea, in which we will try to answer the question of the questions: How did the giant jellyfish form?
Why and how did the giant jelly monsters with the unusual sting appear?
Everyone understands that the world's weather has changed for the worse. Last year (2023) the water in the sea warmed slowly, so even in the month of June the water was relatively cold for the season. As a result, a change took place in the breeding times, and the residents of Haifa and the surrounding area enjoyed a summer of 2023 almost completely free of jellyfish.
The arrival of the monsters in Haifa
This year (2024), is the first year in which the giant jellyfish were seen. The phenomenon occurred after two weeks of stormy weather, rains and strong waves. As a result, torn and torn pieces of jellyfish were thrown onto the beach. The result - the water on the beaches of Haifa burns as a result of hundreds of thousands of hunting arms torn from the bodies of the jellyfish.
It is difficult to compare the encounter with the wireworm in the summer and the encounter with these giant jellyfish, which due to the size of the hunting arms, the stings and burns are extremely large.
The connection between the abundant rains is the lack of strong winter storms and their enormous size
Some kind of change takes place in the food web and the life cycle of the filament. The combination between the rainy weather, the few storms that were in the winter, the jellyfish with the high weight, the change in the plankton resulting from the change in water temperature caused the meteoric development of the jellyfish.
I don't want to think what would have happened if they had arrived in the summer.... We must have witnessed the "blue ladies" horror show.
While writing the article, a large swarm of giant jellyfish arrived, measuring 90 cm or more. These "small" jellyfish were ejected first, when the heavy ones were still some distance from the shore. It should be noted that in murky water with a visibility of a meter, it is very easy to get hurt by their arms. Just to To explain the ear - because of their size, the arms are long and spread out so that the swimmers will be hit even from a distance of a meter.
Well done my friend Motty Mendelssohn
good week
Good morning Jordan
There are fish that eat jellyfish.
Risks, terns, sometimes striped sargos, sea turtles.
There are giant jellyfish in the world..Nomura in Japan and the lion's mane in the poles.
What spectacular pictures! Every time I am amazed anew when I see the photographs
Is there a certain type of jellyfish that can grow to this size?
In addition, what is meant by the remains of the jellyfish found in the sea? Are these remains because in the sea the jellyfish was eaten by a fish or some marine animal? Very interesting!
We are very lucky to have you and these wonderful pictures and explanations! You really make nature and the beauty of the sea accessible to us :)

exciting
As a swimming lover, I am always happy to read about the subject, but the giant jellyfish are particularly disturbing.. Thanks for the news and I hope that in the coming season we will be able to have a proper summer vacation in Nahariya.
I will answer yes, it's nice to have you Moti.

Thank you very much Or, it's fun.
I don't know about Haifa, but on the more southern beaches every winter there are jellyfish that grow bigger every year.
Also this year, as every year, I came across several that approach a meter.
There is no need to be afraid, but simply to keep your eyes open while swimming, and even if you accidentally get burned, the pain goes away after a day (but the itching still bothers you for two or three days).
Indeed, in my walks from the Carmel beach to the student center, I saw giant jellyfish...
Fascinating to read your explanations👍🏼🤝🏼
What a pleasure to have you in Haifa
Well done my friend Motty Mendelssohn. Shabbat Shalom and blessed to you
This summer will be????
The wild boars need to be trained to eat jellyfish. It's good, it's healthy and it's ecological food. Regarding the pigs' shit on the seashore, we'll think it's mineral mud from the Dead Sea. And so we will live happily. Come on, have a good day on election day, hoping you don't get into a pothole on the way to the polls and get stuck without carrot juice.
I read the article and found no connection between the title and the content...
spectacular. Very interesting Moti alignment
It's a Khotite, an eco-warfare traveling from the shores of Yemen.
They are grown in the waters of a Yemeni dam and are delivered to us from being attached to ships in the Straits of Bab el Bablat.
There is no doubt that in the face of this threat it can be said that we are experiencing - a burning failure.
Shabbat Shalom Or.
There is nothing to fear, the road is more dangerous.
Dear Moti
Fascinating article. But the jellyfish are frightening. I really hope that by the summer they will be gone. Amen. Thank you very much and for all your very important articles
We would have done without you and all your amazing advice all year long
