Police spokespersons:
During the football match between the teams Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv at the Sami Ofer Stadium, several operations were carried out yesterday (Monday) to locate pyrotechnics and prevent disturbances.
In the meantime, in a proactive and covert activity by Coast District police officers before the start of the game, a number of suspects were seen lighting flares and breaking the order. In a quick operation by the police officers, 8 suspects in their 20s were arrested, who were transferred for questioning.
The Coastal District of the Israel Police takes seriously those who violate public order during sports events and will continue to act to prevent these cases and of course bring the suspects to justice.
The communique endures everything. If I were the Israel Police, instead of issuing a press release, I would disguise myself and run away... hundreds of policemen and hundreds of bouncers and eight detainees? After all, hundreds of fans lit flares on both sides of the field. The green ones in the north, the yellow ones in the south. There is a security check at the entrances, there are plenty of personnel. There is a clear expectation. The whole stadium is networked with cameras and the police are proud of the eight arrested and declare the importance of handling the matter? The only question left after the jaw drop is whether to cry or laugh...
