Opening of exhibitions February-June 2024, at the Haifa Art Museum
On the rainy evening of Thursday, February 1, 2024, the Haifa Museum of Art celebrated the opening of a new exhibition season, in the presence of happy visitors and enthusiastic artists. At the beginning of his remarks, the CEO of the Haifa Museums, Yotam Yakir, told about the response of the Haifa museums to the war: out of a sense of mission at a time of hardship, the museums initiated hundreds of respite and enrichment activities for the displaced families all over Haifa, to enable an island of sanity.

on the fronts
Now, with the soldiers on the front lines guarding the house, the new exhibitions correspond with the war by putting the house at the center. The yellow abductee pin on the lapel of the clothes of Yakir and the museum staff, who wore it as a sign of identification, stood out.

"Swirling my earthly sun"
In addition, the new season inaugurates the Shusterman collection, generously donated by Mrs. Lynn Shusterman. The collection named "Sobbat Shemesh Admati" includes works by Israeli painters since the beginning of the state, such as Yohanan Simon, Reuven Rubin, Nachum Gutman and more, who focused on the landscapes of the country and in the quality of life of its people. Several paintings were renovated that needed it by the museum staff, and now they are displayed on the first floor of the museum. Thanks to the curator of the exhibition, Limor Alpern.

At home
Dr. Kobi Ben-Meir, the chief curator of the Haifa Museum of Art, spoke about the works of contemporary Israeli painters on the theme "At home: the abode of loves and anxieties", displayed on the second floor of the museum.

"Animal in the painting"
Natalya Zorbova, born in Moscow and living in Jaffa, in her solo exhibition, "Live in painting" presents large-scale works and bursts of color of the interior of the house. For example, the painting "Yellow Table".

everyday morning
Hila Spitzer's works under the name "Morning Drawing" are the result of a daily ritual of drawing in crayon colors of the same area of the house, for half an hour.

like photography
In one of the rooms on the second floor, my attention was drawn to a tall young man, who stood in front of a series of paintings by Aram Gershoni and looked at them for a long time, as if mesmerized. The drawings were accurate-realistic as photographs. It turns out that the man is a student of the painter and pointed in admiration at the many shades of the painted object and the background, which create the illusion of photography.

Philanthropist Lynn Shusterman was surrounded by fans. The artists Hila Spitzer, Uriel Miron, Natalia Zorbova and others talked to the audience in a cordial-warm atmosphere, spiced with the aroma of red wine and the refined sweetness of a pink strawberry.

Go see Natalia Zarubova's exhibition...amazing...and also in the small room on the third floor..Hila Spitzer..cute little paintings with markers...to draw what is at home..daily painting..highly recommended..
All the best to you, my friend Yotam Yakir, CEO of the museum in Haifa
An interesting article that gave me a feeling of "it's a shame I didn't make it to the opening".
The description of the crowd and its shades, the description of the painting styles as well as the description of the place and the atmosphere, make the article so good.
Well done Hagit!!!
Important article Hagit.
