After countless dives, some in low temperatures and difficult visibility conditions, in seas, lakes and even in deep winter puddles throughout the country and the world as well as long hours of photography to produce rare and successful photographs, I now bring you a variety of stories from the water.
Prejudices and misconceptions - the smart fish
Quite a few people treat fish as primitive and even stupid creatures. A surprise awaits these people: these creatures are smart and have high survival abilities. Nerve fibers, receptors and sensors such as chemoreceptors and chromatophores, color cells that can be controlled in size - all these are associated with survival.
Some fish are even equipped with sophisticated systems such as water legs, in sea urchins, starfish.
the crabs
Other marine creatures, such as crabs, spiders, and cockroaches, have sensory hairs and highly sophisticated eyes located on stalks that serve as periscopes. An example of these creatures are the beach holon and the pale beach crabs.
Even at sea they hunt in packs
On land, mammals are known to hunt in packs through perfect coordination - for example hyenas, lions and wolves. But make no mistake - even at sea there are cases of perfect coordination. A vivid example of hunting from the sea world is in the photo - the tilapia fish are surrounded by many cichlids that attack the spawning pit to win the tilapia skirt. Despite the warning signals, the attackers take their loot.
A fish has difficulty swallowing another fish whole
There are creatures on which there are drawings of eyes for warning and even faces to ward off predators. So for example, the crabs, beetles and even in the flowers the bumblebee. There are times when, while taking a photo, I hold back from laughing when a fish is photographed that has swallowed another fish, but has trouble getting the whole thing in and ends up vomiting it out.
The crab Saron m armoratus
The long-bellied and colorful Saron m armoratus crab is particularly difficult to photograph. It originates in the Idus Pacific and is quite strange looking. The cancer was discovered in Haifa in 2003 and starred in a scientific article in collaboration with Prof. Bela Galil who is currently a researcher at the Tel Aviv Museum.
A strange story to end
A co-worker who was freediving felt his left ear blocked. Even when he got out of the water he felt as if there were soap bubbles in his ear. Washes and "pimpums" did not help. After we were sitting at the computer looking at pictures of jellyfish, he felt a drop of water running from his ear. To our astonishment, it turned out to be a tiny cancer that had entered his ear.
Dear Muti
What an amazing article! I sit, read the article and feel that I am diving deep in the sea water when I watch such high quality pictures of the sea creatures. The pictures are so clear and you can see the sea creatures in excellent quality through them. The fish that tried to eat another fish made me laugh hahahahaha, the predatory fish probably "ate with its eyes" and thought it could eat it 🙂
And about the cancer, really a strange and entertaining story, you didn't know that there are cancer that are so tiny and can enter the ears and get stuck there. As usual, an amazing article :)
I will wait for you to continue to share with us other wonderful sea experiences :) Thanks to you, the screen at home feels like diving in the heart of the sea
Amazing photos thank you❤️
As usual very interesting
Amazing pictures. I did not know that fish are able to cooperate in hunting - beautiful, an important trait for the survival of a flock. The story about the cancer in the ear is scary - lucky that he finally got out and didn't build a villa there 🙂
The saron crab looks lovely... something on the arachnid border.
Thanks for the pictures and stories.
Wonderful!
Moti Hi, if you could call 0542325073.
An article by the bioker wow so interesting 🤝🏼!!!
Have a good week Yanon..
The cichlids are not from Haifa..
Where were the cichlids photographed in Haifa?
Because of fish foods women have miscarriages
Well done my friend Motty Mendelssohn. Spectacular photographs. Shalom and blessed Sabbath
A refreshing article that takes our bitterness out of our routine
I witnessed the story of the lifeguard who climbed the lifeguard tower from the water and claimed that his ear was blocked. I advised him to jump on one leg with his head tilted to the side and to our astonishment he fell out with a tiny cancer that lodged in his ear
