In Haifa there are more than twenty excellent second-hand fashion stores, in places like the port and the Carmel, the lower city and much more. You only need to find out with Dr. Google and you will reach them.
I want to tell about an initiative of Aliza Shkolnik, a Bat Galimit activist who initiated Shu'hila for the community about twenty years ago together with Bat Galim women.
Shu'hila - uncompetitive prices
Sho'hila takes place every Tuesday of the week from 18:00 to 20:00 and also on the first Fridays of each month. from ten to two in the afternoon. In the Hila market you can find clothes for the whole family. Excellent quality and huge selection. Every week the volunteers come and help unpack the bags of donations that are received to sort and hang the clothes on hangers according to type and size.
What is special are the non-competitive prices: every shirt or pants (including jeans) here costs 5 NIS and every dress or jacket and coat costs 10 NIS. You can also find small household items and occasionally even a television screen. Sho'hila is currently located behind the community center on Aliya Street 45. All of these are overcome by Aliza Shkolnik, the living spirit of the project, she advises what is suitable and what is not and coordinates all the volunteers, invites buyers and operates the place.
The annual fashion show
Aliza Shkolnik:
Shu'hila's purpose is social and ideological. Also to create a meeting point and conversation in the neighborhood, and also to contribute to the financing of cultural and community activities in the neighborhood. Also to help ecology and environmental conservation.
The fashion show
The highlight of the project is the fashion show of Shukhila's clothes that takes place every year at Bat Galim's community Hanukkah party, which has already become a tradition for over ten years. The models are Bat Galim women and volunteers. A singer and musician accompany the fashion show with live music and great joy.
Aliza's motto:
Even if not everyone can change the whole world. Everyone can make a small change in the reality around them. believe. That's why I worked all my life at Wicho College in art education... and as a volunteer in the Bat Galim community, on community television, and now as a pensioner also in the pensioners' lobby.
Shukhila was founded in 2002. Viorka is one of the founders:
to improve mood
I recommended: it is possible and desirable to combine shopping in Shokhila with a visit to the new restaurant complex in Sdera, because especially in difficult days that we are going through, it is advisable to think about how to lift the mood. New clothes, a contribution to the community and the feeling of togetherness: all of these can perhaps encourage and even make you happy a little.
An important and great project
Nice.. good to know..
Why only for women?
What is second hand men's clothing, do you know how much a suit for a man costs? Starts at 1000 s and above. Many men have suits that are too small for them. Or looking cheap for a bigger suit. Why not expand the project?
Address?
Important article Tel. Shalom and blessed Sabbath
