(live here) – The Histadrut announced yesterday, Wednesday, 27/12/23, about a labor dispute at Egged, following the company's management's refusal to negotiate with the workers' representatives, regarding their demand to share in the company's profits, in light of the company's management's intention to distribute a dividend to the shareholders.
After numerous requests by Egged employee representatives to negotiate on the issue of Egged employees sharing in the company's profits, which were received with a refusal from the company, the Histadrut of the Workers' Union declared a labor dispute and called on the management to negotiate on the issue, otherwise additional measures will be taken.
As mentioned, the Histadrut announced a labor dispute in the union, which affected approximately 6,000 employees, following the company's management's refusal to negotiate with the workers' representatives on their demand to share in the company's profits, in light of the company's management's intention to distribute a dividend to the shareholders.
"The workers, who carried the company on their backs in less good times, are entitled in better times to enjoy the fruits of their many years of labor".
Chairman of the Transportation Workers Union, attorney Eyal Yadin:
"Thousands of Egged employees who perform their work with dedication for decades, are the basis and an integral part of the company's economic results, which are constantly improving and now enable the distribution of dividends. The employees who carried the company on their backs during Egged's less favorable times while compromising their wages and terms of employment, are entitled to periods They are better off enjoying the fruits of their many years of labor, and the transport workers' union will not let them be left behind in this regard. The Histadrut calls on the management to return to the negotiating table, and will continue to take responsibility for the traveling public, to the extent that organizational measures are required."
Ya'akov and Achanish, chairman of the national board of Egged:
"Egged's profits originate from the employees, who provide service to millions of Israelis every day, therefore they must be involved in the dividend distribution process. This is the just and correct move to make."
Egged has yet to respond.
Hello!
The question now is whether the drivers will take steps that will harm the traveling public!
And if so, what will happen to funds paid in advance for the trips?
Egged's profits do not come from good service from the drivers. The hardship of parking and the suffering of driving in traffic jams is the reason for traveling by bus. Most drivers look down on customers and even scold them for making special requests. Asking the driver not to drive until the passenger is seated is rude and I have already heard that a bus is not private. Despite the instruction to stop close to the pavement most drivers do not do so. The distant stop makes it difficult to get on the bus but does not bother the drivers. The main thing is that they quickly integrate into the movement. Perhaps sharing the profits will result in the passenger being respected. As the situation is today, the drivers do not deserve even a worn penny.
Egged's drivers must receive improved conditions. Thousands of lines must be added. To establish anti-traffic zones in cities, for example in the traffic jams of the Carmel Center and Freud-Center Horev, the reality is immediately required to add a separated public transportation route so that buses will be on time and be preferable to the private car. It is impossible to accept a situation where a bus from a neighborhood gets stuck in traffic until a bus is replaced on the ridge line, which also gets stuck in traffic And it creates that walking is faster than taking a bus - for those who can... and in general the fastest is a bicycle, but there are no bicycle paths at all in the neighborhoods of the ridge or along the ridge axis. And the Egged bag was canceled. And the express lines to the campuses were canceled.
The nightmare called traffic in Haifa consists of a huge failure to prioritize public transportation in the city.
There is not a single person in the entire city of Haifa that takes care of public transportation!!!!
No councilor takes public transportation!!!
Remove from the municipality any professional who tried to handle public transportation and leave it to the secretary of the parking division, when she feels like handling something, she meets once in a while... with a Maged representative. It's not me saying it's listed in the city auditor's reports!!!!
Egged drivers in Haifa are exhausted - simply exhausted from the long lines from one central station to another that take over an hour!! like a long distance drive. It takes between 30 minutes and 45 minutes to leave a residential neighborhood in the ridge and reach the center of the bay or Carmel Beach - a taxi does it in 15 minutes. It's just a shame and disgrace.
