Carmel Castle residents aged 60 and over are invited to take part in the program of the national volunteering system for senior citizens, and take part in educational and value activities in kindergartens and elementary schools. The municipality of Tirat Carmel, through the municipal volunteering unit in the welfare and social services department, invites the old residents of the city to take part in the project "Baim Latov" - the national organization for volunteering senior citizens.
"Coming for good"
is a program of the Ministry for Social Equality for those 60 and older, which has set as its goal to lead a society that empowers senior citizens and promotes their continued participation in community activities, while recognizing their value and dignity.
As part of the program, senior citizens choose a meaningful activity that strengthens their participation in social, economic, community and cultural life. The volunteers work for significant goals, such as strengthening digital literacy, promoting gaps in education, strengthening emergency preparedness and more. The initiator of the program is the Ministry of the Negev, the Galilee and the National Security, and it is carried out by the Society for Community Development.
At Carmel Castle, senior citizens can choose from two voluntary activities in the field of education:
- The second in the garden - in which the volunteers enter the kindergarten once a week in coordination with the kindergarten staff, and give the children activities in areas such as caution on the roads, "a friend and he is another", love of the land and conservation of nature, stories and more.
- Reading for pleasure - which is implemented within the schools in grades 1-2 in small groups of up to eight students, and which is designed to encourage reading books, to enrich the emotional, spiritual and cultural world, and to promote language goals.
All the volunteers in the program undergo professional training by the national organization "Baim Latov".

It is very important.
There is no Tirat Carmel in the municipality, they take care of the children there more than anywhere I know. Plenty of classes in clubs and excellent activities. Lots of investment and care.
learn from them.
