You can't see the promenade in Haifa because of too much sand • "The baby carriages get stuck in the sand"

(haipo) - About a week has passed since a storm broke out in the area, and residents who frequented the promenade in Bat Galim in Haifa report that it is not possible to distinguish the difference between the area of the promenade and the beach, as the entire promenade is covered with large amounts of sand. The residents who passed by the promenade are disappointed and complain of neglect on the part of the Haifa Municipality.

Sand that gets into baby carriages

This is what the Bat Galim boardwalk looks like a week after the storm, completely covered in huge amounts of sand. People who come to the boardwalk, whether to get some air, walk the dog, take a sporty walk or just sit and rest a little on a bench in front of the waves, try to relax a little from the news, find themselves struggling with the sand that gets into their shoes, socks, clothes on top of the carts and furs the dogs

"There is no justification for this criminal and disgusting neglect" ► Watch

Inbal Shalhav, a resident of the neighborhood who came for a walk with the dog, tells Lahi Pa:

"I wanted to walk on the boardwalk, but I feel like I'm walking on the beach, because where there should be a walking path there are tons of sand that gets into the shoes and gets the dogs dirty, and it's not fun. If I wanted to walk on the sand, I'd walk on the waterfront, but I don't want sand in my shoes And I don't want sand on the dogs. The entire boardwalk is covered in sand up to the doorsteps of the houses, it's shocking and unbelievable. We pay a lot of money and there is no justification for the neglect."

Yael Shanar, a member of the city council from the Green Party, a resident of Bat Galim and a mother of children, told Lahi Pa:

"Every year the melody repeats that there will be a storm and the boardwalk turns into a sandbox that cannot be walked through.
We have no control over the weather, but the municipality is certainly expected to act logically and clear the sand dunes that have been piled up on the paths and grass, and this has not been done for too many days, and thus parents with baby carriages or those in wheelchairs cannot pass the boardwalk for over a week!
The municipality conducts itself lazily as if it were a decree of fate. It's not related to the emergency situation we're in because it happens every year."

Shanar adds and explains:
"During the past 5 years as a council member, every year I raised the state of the boardwalk with queries and proposals for order in the city council demanding a comprehensive and holistic solution to the boardwalk situation that includes infrastructure maintenance, cleaning, planning, etc. , but in terms of the result - it is currently impossible to walk on the boardwalk located in the most beautiful place in Israel."

"For years the problem has been known, no one does anything"

The chairman of the Bat Galim neighborhood committee, Yuval Busin, said in an interview:
"This story repeats itself throughout the years and nothing is done. Many city officials have come, gone, retired, changed, etc. mayors, all of them are "whistling" and doing nothing. The situation is getting worse because everyone is looking for solutions for nothing. Everyone knows it's a solution and the boardwalk needs to be renovated and raised by half a meter, but they don't want to invest."

Bossin even adds and says:
"Even in a situation like this, when the problem is not solved, there is a way that makes it possible to clean the boardwalk instead of leaving it covered with sand, and this is done using a special vehicle that collects the sand. This vehicle is located on the Carmel beach, only people are too lazy to bring it from there to Bat Galim. Only when the residents and travelers push And the municipality is flooded with complaints, so we 'do a favor' and bring it to Bat Galim. And that's even before we mentioned the disintegration of interlocking stones in the boardwalk, which takes months to repair, if they are repaired at all. We must put an end to the neglect and disregard for everything related to the Bat Galim boardwalk."

No response was given from the Haifa municipality.

  1. Bat Galim Promenade is a deserted place and it is not pleasant to walk around there at night.

  2. Hello Mandal! I know you will answer me sharply, but will another mayor do so much for our beloved city? Can a man over eighty commit to being an exemplary mayor? After all, it is clear that after about two years he will give way to someone else or someone else who did not choose him or her at all. No one is free from mistakes and mistakes teach a lot. Einat has done and is doing a lot for our Haifa on all levels. The fuel port and the expansion of Zan are a danger to all of us and she is fighting against them and the government that thinks that Haifa is a garbage can for the State of Israel. Please think about it.

  3. They are strong in property tax collection, no matter what...
Like clockwork, these nasty papers arrive at our postal contest...

  4. On January 31, Kalish is being flown home, a failed mayor who is failing the residents of Haifa.
    This time just not Kalish!!!

  5. Here's a suggestion - you don't like sand - don't go to the beach.
And if you are going to the beach, don't come with inappropriate strollers and complain that they get stuck in the sand. That
Put on a baby carrier and free us from your endless fumes, the problem is yours not the city's, walking around with strollers on the beach really shouldn't be a priority for the city, it's more worrying that types like you cause traffic jams every day at the entrance to every school when you're stuck like a bone in the throat during rush hour and refuse to move your butt To a place where you won't get stuck all the way with your mini jeep.

  6. again. My memory is short and it seems to me that this is already a national problem. Also in this like fire lines, do we have to wait for another fatal disaster to remember? Good:
Write "Bat Galim Teva" in Google and pictures.
Oh, you remembered, great. Bat Galim suffers from very severe flooding in the winter.
And it will get worse. The Bat Galim Promenade should be raised 2 meters from the current level and all the coastal cities should be prepared to deal with an extreme climate.

  7. The most fun was reading the response of the Haifa Municipality...
    And I ask myself...
Is there one article during the last 5 years that dealt with the municipality's failures, and there was a response???
Among those who solve correctly will be drawn for the right to call Moked 106 and wait only fifteen minutes for a representative...

  8. The cost of raising the boardwalk is about NIS 50 million. It's not in the sky.
The municipality has long since been obliged to take care of the renovation of the boardwalk and the removal of the casino and the construction of a breakwater and the training of another bathing beach and pavilions like Tel Avcab did at the dolphinarium.

  9. The issue is not the sand but sea level rise and floods or tsunamis which are much worse than a little sand.
It is mandatory to rebuild the boardwalk at a height of 2 meters more above the water level like the rat's carpet and Rambam were erected.
The existing one is too low.
    This should be done urgently

  10. Nature demands its own.
This means that the beach should go back to being a bathing beach, a recreation for the whole length and not the allowance of a tiny chuphon in a neighborhood that is characterized by the sea for years, to create a different walking route, and people will be able to enjoy the sea from bathing, to bring back the rescue shelters, to change the way of thinking about what nature gives us and we don't take advantage of . There is nothing like the real nature, and there will be those who will think and carry out hope in the upcoming elections

  11. You are crying sand on the boardwalk, come to the town where I live, please, and there was sand, there is garbage on the street, grass clippings and stinks of old garbage, so a little sand is really trouble

  12. What a surprise, less than 100 meters from the water line on the beach there is sand?! Not true!!! Good thing you didn't complain about rain in winter, sun during the day and moon at night.

  13. In favor of canceling the boardwalk and turning everything into a wild beach.
I'm tired of people in the neighborhood promoting themselves politically at the expense of nature.

  14. At Bat Galim beach year after year there is a growing surplus of sand. After they built it, the boardwalk was 2 meters above the sand level.
At the same time, there is a lack of sand on the west coast and on the beaches of the Kiryat, which is increasing year by year. On a regular basis, sand is poured onto these beaches.
So you are the great experts in marine science? There must be a solution to this. The scientists sitting at the end of the boardwalk in Shakmona, please wake up and offer solutions.

  15. It is surprising that the whiny Haifaites did not accuse Bibi of this as well.

  16. I did not read the article in depth, but it is interesting to know who planned and built the boardwalk and whether the planning took into account the possibility of storms

  17. Why complain, there is a long promenade along the beach, moving to another place. Soon there will be another storm, and it will be filled with sand again... in the summer they will clean everything. You can change the name to summer promenade and then people won't have complaints...
