The felling of 15 trees by the Haifa municipality was unexpectedly stopped

(haipo) - Disagreements emerged this morning (Thursday 30/11/23) between various parties in the Haifa municipality regarding the cutting of trees in the Kiryat Eliezer neighborhood, which resulted in the work being stopped.

stormy morning

Starting in the early hours of the morning (Thursday 30/11/23), many complaints from residents began to flow into the Hai Pa system that about 15 trees in a grove in the Kiryat Eliezer neighborhood had been marked as destined for felling.

As early as 7:00 in the morning, a contractor arrived with appropriate equipment and intended to start cutting the trees, but stopped before starting the work. It turns out that sharp differences of opinion between various officials in the municipality regarding the number of trees to be cut down and other misunderstandings on the matter, led to a lively debate between the officials and the stoppage of work.

The residents, for their part, especially the nature and green lovers among them, were outraged at the very decision to cut down the trees and demanded to know the reason why it was decided to do so.

The residents tell Lahi Fe that they did not notice any advertisement throughout the neighborhood updating the municipality's intention regarding the cutting of the trees, nor did they receive any information about it through any digital means on behalf of the municipality. The residents repeatedly contacted the municipality and asked to understand why the trees were intended for felling, but received no answers.

save the trees

When time began to run out, the residents turned to System Hai Pa, hoping that they would be able to save the trees, and we immediately turned to the Haifa municipality, in order to get some information about the reason for cutting down the trees.

Not surprisingly, our repeated appeals to the Haifa municipality were completely ignored, so the municipality did not see fit to respond to our request to speak with someone in the gardening department, so that we could get answers to our questions, and perhaps shed some light on the issue.

And a message

And here, a few hours later, a notice was suddenly distributed to the media on behalf of the Haifa municipality, according to which the municipality intends to cut down 12 trees, after receiving a permit to cut them down for safety reasons. It was also stated in the announcement that since the area of Gan Fatal and the grove adjacent to the boardwalk (in Kiryat Eliezer) are lively areas where many families spend time with their children, the purpose of cutting down the trees is to prevent danger from the city's residents during the winter season, when the danger of trees collapsing is greater. In addition, it was noted that the decision also followed the collapse of a tree at the site during the storm that hit the area last Saturday (25/11/23).

List of felling permits

Residents who nevertheless wish to be updated on the list of trees designated for felling throughout Haifa, will have to go to the municipality's website and look for the list of felling permits, to which is attached the option to file an appeal regarding any permit that appears on it, within 14 days.

If so, the list of trees designated for felling is uploaded to the municipality's website, but it is highly doubtful whether most residents are aware of this, or even imagine that they have the possibility to access this information, certainly when nowadays it is easily possible and even customary to inform the residents on any issue whatsoever, through dedicated mailing lists.

Others are destined for amputation

On this occasion, it will be known that 12 different types of trees are also planned to be cut down on Einstein Street in Haifa. The reason is construction. As mentioned, the decision can be appealed, in this case until the date - 13/12/23.

Haifa Municipality, as mentioned, did not provide a response.

She violates nature and thinks that giant megalomaniac signs of herself in Photoshop will fix the destruction.

  4. The brazen ones from the municipality continue to disobey the residents and carry out the demolition. The operation administration is disconnected from the area and relies on false reasons that the trees are dangerous! For 70 years we have not endangered anyone. So why don't you get involved, people who climb the trees with the hetoli sport? Despite the damage to the trees. Someone is cutting wood for heating and no wonder that precisely during this period. Little by little, the grove in the Kiryat Eliezer neighborhood is being thinned, perhaps some entrepreneur is dreaming of the area

  10. Healthy trees, over decades survived storms and rains and did not collapse. These trees give us shade and oxygen, and the attempt to cut them all down under the false excuse of "dead trees" is an injustice to the residents and the landscape of Kiryat Eliezer!
A municipality that does not take care of its trees and does not take care of them does not take care of the quality of life and health of its residents
