Hundreds of kites were flown in the square of the Sami Ofer Stadium by the children of the evacuees staying in Haifa and the children of the city
The event, which was held on Friday 25/11/23, took place as part of the KitesForFreedom international initiative calling for the immediate and unconditional release of all Israeli infants, children and youth, who were kidnapped from their families by Hamas, on Saturday October 7, 23.
The children blew up balloons on the stadium square
The event in Haifa took place during the week of International Children's Day, initiated by the Economic Society for Haifa, the Haifa Municipality, the Sami Ofer municipal stadium and the "Scatz" cafe. During the event, the children received kites on which they painted at coloring stations prepared for them on the spot and then flew the kites on the stadium square.
According to Or Shaf, CEO of the Economic Society for Haifa:
Since the beginning of the war, we have been working and initiating activities, both for the residents of Haifa, and for the residents of the south and the north who were evacuated from their homes and are in hotels throughout the city. It is very important for us to support both businesses and residents in these complex days, we are already working on the next project," he added.
Lior Perry, CEO of Sami Ofer Stadium:
Even and especially in these challenging and complex days, the stadium team considers it a great privilege to be partners in this exciting project for a noble cause. It is important that we all come together, harness and help in whatever way we can.
#KitesForFreedom
is an international initiative that calls for the immediate and unconditional release of over 30 Israeli babies, toddlers, children and teenagers, who were kidnapped from their families by Hamas, in the horrific terrorist incident on the morning of Saturday, October 7, 23. We got the inspiration for the idea from the annual kite festival, which took place every Sukkot between Kibbutz fields Gaza village to the Gaza fence.
Hope for peace and brotherhood
The event, all as a sign of hope for peace and brotherhood, was supposed to take place on that festive Shabbat morning, which became the blackest Shabbat of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. The initiator of the event, Aviv Kotz, his wife Livnat and their 3 children - Rotem, Yiftah and Yonatan were murdered hugging each other in their bed. may them rest in peace.
Balloons are such an unnecessary pollution... it is better to invest energy in an educational activity.
I will help in any way possible. Good night
heart warming!!
This is how we will promote the return of the remaining abductees.
