(h beautiful) - Nahal Saadia was once again flooded with sewage from the sewage treatment plant, which is unable to absorb the amounts of sewage and rainwater. At Bami Carmel they say to Hai Fe that the purification plant is currently undergoing an upgrade process.
Pollution of the stream and from it, through the Kishon - to the sea - the shores of the Kiryat
The live system received videos from which it appears that Nahal Saadia was once again flooded with sewage with the first and serious rain system in the area. This is not the first time and probably not the last time we will repeatedly witness the pollution of the stream which is a natural gem in the heart of the city of Haifa, near Check Post. In the last few days we witnessed a serious rain system and serious amounts of water fell in Haifa, with the peak being on Sunday when about 106 mm of rain fell, which is about a fifth of the annual rainfall average.
As is known in Haifa there are rainwater drains (surface runoff) connected to the municipal sewage system. As a result, there is a tide of rainwater mixed with raw sewage, within the municipal sewage system, on rainy days. When the tidal wave reaches the main pipeline, on its way to the sewage treatment plant, there is a flow of raw sewage mixed with rainwater into the streams and from there into the sea.
Eric Drobot, an avid nature lover and activist for saving Nahal Saadia, said in a conversation with Lahi Fe: ""The Ministry of Environmental Protection gives a permit for overflowing sewage into the stream, instead of obliging the Carmel Water Corporation to work on separating drains. Unfortunately, this only happens when it rains because the gutters and pipes are connected to the sewage systems."
The Carmel Water Corporation informed Lahi Pa:
"In an inspection carried out by the corporation, it was found that all the water and sewage systems in the area in question are completely normal. This is a well-known, recognized and treated regional problem, which, due to extreme rain conditions such as occurred in the last few days, the Wastewater Treatment Institute is unable to absorb the amounts of wastewater that reach it from 11 local authorities, And wastewater mixed with rainwater flows backwards and flows after filtering at the lowest point in the Haifa and Kiryat area. The purification institute is currently in the process of upgrading its wastewater absorption capacity, and when the works are completed, the flows will stop."
Enough messing with this puddle.
An important article by Samar Odeh Karantinji. Good night
Eyal, this is only a problem that should be solved by the municipality of Haifa, don't try to mix your political opinions here, and if you feel so bad here, you are welcome to get on a plane and get out of the country.
As long as this is the municipality of Haifa and this is the State of Israel and these are the inexperienced and unprofessional ministers and mayors and department heads who "manage" and manage nothing, then you can only expect an increasing chain of failures and disasters.
