in the shadow of war
On Saturday 18.11.23/500/XNUMX in the morning, a day before the rains, about XNUMX women, men and children from all over the country 'raided' the olive vineyards of 'Sindianat HaGalil' in the Jezreel Valley for a joint Jewish-Arab olive harvest.
Solidarity olive harvester ► Watch
The event was initiated by the "Sindianat HaGilil" association, whose leaders invited the "Building an Alternative" community to the joint activity and this is how it was written in the invitation:
In the shadow of the terrible war and the severe damage to Israeli society in all its sectors, it is important to also see the light emerging between the cracks. Everywhere dozens of initiatives for aid and rehabilitation. mobilization for. In one word - solidarity.
The women of 'Sindiana' continue to express solidarity and take part in civil support operations for the evacuee population staying in the Jezreel Valley. The women of 'Sindianat HaGalil' and 'Bonot Alternative' invite you to pick olives in the Scottish orchard in the Jezreel valley.
The plantation and the harvest are the economic strength of many women, Jewish and Arab, who make a living from the production of the award-winning olive oil of 'Sindiana'. Come support their ability to continue to provide for their families, and contribute to the economic and social resilience in the Galilee and the valley.

'Sindianat HaGalil', introduction
'Sindianat HaGalil' is a fair trade association, operating as a social business since 1996, through a connection between Arab and Jewish women, who together produce high-quality olive oil. The oil, which has won prizes in competitions in Israel and abroad, is produced by cold pressing from olive varieties grown in the 'Scottish Orchard', while ensuring a short stopping time.
The association's staff
The association's staff, from the production line to the management of the factory, consists of Arab and Jewish women who believe in providing equal opportunities for women and in a common future for both nations. The association's visitor center in Kfar Kana hosts groups from Israel and abroad and organizes a variety of experiential activities for individuals and groups, including hydroponics workshops, shooting with sennas and wicker, making a za'atar mixture, traditional cooking and more. The profits from the association's business activities are invested in social projects, to encourage women's employment, to implement economics sustainable green, and to create a bridge between communities.
Brotherhood, positive, hope and peace
One of the exciting initiatives organized by 'Sindiana', was a meeting of Jewish and Arab children who drew together colorful pictures that became labels for the olive oils produced by their verifications. In the combination of the words: friendship, positivity, hope, and peace, the labels convey a message of empowerment and hope.
my words Hanan Zoevi, the leader of the event
In the afternoon, after three hours of intensive work, Hadas Lahav, CEO of Sindianat HaGilil, thanked the many participants who enjoyed a community meal of manakish pitas with za'atar baked in the oven, alongside olive oil, vegetables and fruits and, of course, coffee.
Hanan Zoevi, a member of the 'Sindiana' management team who led the event, spoke excitedly:
It is not obvious at this time, during a war, to organize an event of such scope with such an impressive participation and response. I take this opportunity to thank all of you and the lovely women of 'Alternative Builders'.
I met 'Scindiana' twenty years ago. I started as a volunteer and have been working for the association for eight years. I met lovely women in the association, Jewish and Arab, who sacrifice their lives to establish principles that we all want: democracy, equality and social justice.
In Arab society, in order to establish these principles, it is impossible to do it alone. We must be partners in the way and especially in changing the face of Arab society and the status of women in society.
Since the association was established, we have worked hard in order to translate these principles into an economic way of doing things whose profits go back to the social projects handled by 'Sindiana'. We believe that if we want to change the face of Israeli society, we must also change Arab society.
Over the years we have searched and turned every stone in order to find partners on the way whose goal is to provide equal rights and employment opportunities to Arab women and also to build a joint society between the Jewish and Arab society. Based on this concept, we established our factory in Kfar Cana and the visitor center that hosts hundreds of tourists from Israel and abroad throughout the year to show the joint effort.
Devri Chen Mendelssohn Aderka, leader 'Building an alternative' In Haifa
Chen Mendelson Aderka, leader of the "Building an Alternative" association in Haifa, who was a partner in organizing the activity, said:
Bonot Alternative was founded following the rape case in Eilat. Moran Zer Katzenstein, the founder, could not remain silent and brought out women all over the country to demonstrate. Since then we have led campaigns on various issues such as comparing the wages of women in the economy with equals, a campaign to compare the wages of female soccer players in the Israel national team, and accompanying the victims of the Eyal Golan affair.
Champions in marketing and communication, we couldn't believe what a spotlight the protest against the regime coup would bring to our activity and what a huge turnout throughout the country with the spectacular performances of the handmaids. At the height of our activity, we reached 100 women in about 80 centers throughout the country. Presenters and broadcasters wore red in the studios, and we almost reached adequate gender representation on all the demonstration stages.
We met the 'Sindianat HaGilil' during the protest days, Arab and Jewish women marched together and demanded a government that would be kind to us. Both organizations share values of equal rights, liberalism and social activism. When the war broke out, the cards were destroyed and women were once again sent back.
Despite many heroic stories of female fighters there are many voices that doubt us, there are no women in the cabinet, and the studios are all testosterone. Women hold the rear, volunteer in every arena, maintain the mental health system and the children who were outside the educational frameworks. I want to ask the women here - who was able to work in October?
And that's why we enter the event, the economic arena. We are working on a new project to support women's economy that has been damaged. Because livelihood is the basis. The peace of mind, the security, the independence of women and the well-being of their families. You can follow the activity 'Building an economy', which we will announce in the next two weeks.
And this important conclusion, which was postponed due to the war, is another important opportunity to work again alongside the women and men of 'Sindiana', to work for the economy of Arab and Jewish women. To invite the public to meaningful action, especially in these difficult days. Thank you very much and as they say in 'Building an Alternative' - we have only just begun!
Fertile volunteering, harvest successful
In the evening, Hanan sent an email full of pride to the participants and this was his words:
We were 500 people today! With joint forces, we harvested about 2 tons of olives. After we finished, all the olives were sent to the fabric house, from which 1700 kg of olives were found, yielding 260 kg of oil (15%).
Your support this morning will not only help the women of Sindiana to continue their important enterprise in the Galilee, to provide for their families, and to contribute to the economic and social resilience of the Galilee and the valley.
Together, we expressed a clear position regarding our guiding values - equality, liberalism and social activism.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Thanks! Thank you!
The Sindian women of the Galilee and build an alternative
Innocent and stupid idiots
There is no coexistence and no shoes. As soon as we are in a predicament that endangers our existence, they will slaughter the cute Jewish friends with such cute Israeli names
Part of the classic Jewish stupidity
Forget 07/10/2023
Innocent as they are.
At this time there is no chance of an egalitarian life between us and the Arabs who live here.
Always remember that the goal of Islam is to make the world Muslim.
Not sure who hates me more: the Muslims or the non-Muslims. Both Muslims and non-Muslims have reasons to hate me.
Anyway, not sure if I can tell when one of them is up to kill me. In any case, before I decide to go ahead and kill him, I look for ways to suppress his killing instinct, and prevent him from doing a rash act.
Muslims and non-Muslims are also human beings, they have families and children. Most of them would prefer a peaceful life, everyone under his vine and under his fig tree, but it is not possible for them.
Suggest not to argue.
To my father Harel, dear man! It doesn't bother me that in your faith you will live, also the peace supporter Judith Weiss the 2th, was kidnapped alive and cut into pieces while she was alive by the Muslim scum who did this in the name of the Muslim religion and with the special permission of their Qadis. While among the Jews there are hateful racists, Baruch Goldstein and Kahana, these are 200, and maybe there are 300-70 more. Among Muslims it is 85% or 20,000% of Muslims, certainly of Muslims in Israel, who see the kindness and wealth that the lax Jewish state showers upon them as a sign of weakness, because that is how Muslim culture is built (listen to Moti Kider and Uzi Rabbi, who understand Muslims better than I do, but probably also more than you). Even with a few dozen more demented and delusional Jews in joint activity with individual Muslims who are despised by their own people, peace and even just real coexistence will not exist in the Middle East, not even in XNUMX years. Rises to kill you, kill him first!!! We were in a deep sleep on the "left side" I'm not sure that the personalities who lead us have woken up, but my hope is that at least a significant part of the Jews here will wake up, and show the Muslims their correct path (of course I mean those with a blue Tez!!!): absolute loyalty and unconditional surrender to the Jewish state and its laws, or out to Syria / Lebanon / Gaza / Egypt for your free choice, but soon in our day, Amen!
You don't have to kill. Kahana was a criminal, and this is how he will be remembered forever.
All over the world there are examples of the majority of peoples who hate and kill each other and there are examples of people who hate and do not kill each other. Instead of killing, show determination and deterrence. The world exists on the scales of deterrence. Killing is possible in situations of breaking the balance.
I may agree with the assumption that there are 5% of the Muslim Arabs who only want to make a transfer to the Jews without raping and murdering them before they put us on the ships, but 95% of the Muslim Arabs are exactly the model of 7.10.23. No one needs stronger proof than this. That is why only the one who is strong and kills his enemy first will be able to survive in the Middle East. Jews and Muslims even in 20,000 years will not be able to live together without wars over this damned piece of land. In conclusion, 7.10.23 proved mainly one thing: as #Na Tzedek! And how right!
"Coexistence" is not a "balance of deterrence".
As there was no coexistence between the USA and the Soviet Union, there was a terrible balance of mutual destruction, this is not coexistence.
When you are afraid of me and I am afraid of you and we are both preparing for war, this is not coexistence.
It is very convenient to use "democracy" in order to strip the Jewish state of being "Jewish" in the name of a "more democratic" state.
Speaking of "democratic", Israel with each generation becomes more democratic and more tolerant and patient, but the demands for a "more democratic democracy" are only increasing, Israel is much more tolerant and open today, compared to the Israel of the 60's and 70's.
The IDF has become a much more inclusive army than it was when the state was established, this did not improve the army's readiness for war, 7.10.2023 proof of this, you can go back and bring more examples, simply the last case is the peak of unpreparedness (probably it will not be the last case ).
Coexistence, this is when we live in peace because we live in peace, to smile at each other and wait for the weakness of the other side to hurt him, it is the opposite of coexistence.
Our life together is a reality, but it is not coexistence, some of the writers here will say that I am wrong and bring their personal "coexistence" as proof of this, but ask yourself, how long would "coexistence" last without the IDF, how much Time he will hold with the IDF will lose.
I lived coexistence in a country where there was a constitution, and I had no problem singing the national anthem and I had no national ambitions in the territory of the country I lived in, and there was also "coexistence", until it wasn't, then it suddenly became clear that I was guilty of many things , which is interesting that many other minorities also lived in that country, they also thought I was guilty.
Here I discovered many Jews who are more bothered by the lack of "coexistence", instead of being bothered by the repeated attempts of a minority to harm it, it is always the fear of angering the shark, yes I know that not all sharks attack and try to eat you, but this is not coexistence.
"You in Haifa are living on a time bomb" really? @blessed
We are all dumb and blind and you are the only supervisor?
It's a shame you didn't make it to Misik to hear Hanan Zoevi, the Galilean Sindian, who spoke about shared peace. which stated that the massacre of October 7 was a crime against humanity
You would hear Chen Mendelsohn building an alternative that tells about the struggle of Arab and Jewish women together for independence and freedom.
Nobody is an idiot. The terrorists are fighting with all their might against the extremists. But the generalization that "all Arabs" are murderers is just as true as the generalization that "all Jews are Ben Gvir"
Those who were at the olive harvest on Shabbat were the opponents of extremism and violence in both nations
If you open your head and heart, I'm sure you'll be able to recognize a. wonderful women full of goodness on the other side
Feel free to try
forgiveness??? Solidarity with the Massacre??? Crazy audacity to write such a thing. Disgusting response, Mrs. Yael R. Unparalleled ugliness!
There was a severe condemnation of the massacre and an expression of great sorrow for the massacre and they expressed it from the bottom of their hearts.
There was real solidarity and real hope.
Better not to make generalizations. Do all Jews preach to wipe out Hvara? What is coexistence?
Coexistence is a balance of deterrence. We all need to have the ability to deter, so that others do not dare to think that they can us.
Who are the mass murderers on both sides???
Victims on both sides???
The Jewish people also broke through the fence and murdered and kidnapped Arabs from Gaza, yes? That is what happened?
The majority of the victims are Jews, the goal was murder and harm to Jews, along the way the Arab murderers also harmed non-Jews, but it was a deliberate harm first and foremost to Jews.
The Jews were the main target of the killers from Gaza.
"Victims on both sides" is like putting a rape victim and her rapist on the same level. No, it's not okay, it's not acceptable.
Not true and I will not agree to cancel myself in the name of "coexistence", just to give up a Jewish state, just to give up the anthem, actually not to give up but to change it here, change it there, the list of demands for "equality" just keeps getting longer and longer.
It's nice to draw a common conclusion when the IDF fights and defeats the enemy, and if you haven't noticed, they (the enemy) are neither Chinese nor French, these are the Arabs of Gaza.
Even though the war in Gaza is not over and the end does not seem close, for some reason people try to give the appearance that apparently everything is going on as usual and nothing happened, from the side it looks like a kind of denial, maybe this is their way of dealing with reality, or, maybe it is more correct to say that it is an escape from reality, I I know that not all Arabs support terrorism, that is clear, just as it is also clear that if there is a terrorist attack, it will be carried out by an Arab.
A common conclusion is nice, but nothing more than that, to put Jewish victims on the same level as victims in Gaza, is to do injustice to the real victims, I cannot accept that.
Wayan Silver also believed in coexistence and was found cut to pieces. Keep spreading lies of peace and brotherhood and death will knock on your door and that will be the easy part after what will happen before.
The blood of the murdered is not yet dry, the kidnapped have not returned and you lick the Arabs
If after the massacre that happened on Simchat Torah, in which many citizens were complicit and supported it and rejoiced at the sound of the kidnapping of our citizens, there are still people who lie to themselves that it is possible to "co-exist" with them, probably when they wake up it will already be too late, because our enemy simply wants to throw us into the sea at best And in the worst case slaughter us and rape our daughters. How much self-deception people can live is simply delusional...
You in Haifa live on a time bomb. Any chance of living together with human animals is peta morgana. There is no chance of coexistence. I have not heard any Arab leader coming out against the killers of Hamas.
There are carnage hymns on both sides, and there are sacrifices on both sides. Naturally, the solidarity is between the victims, and not between the eulogists of the massacre.
What kind of solidarity between the eulogists of the massacre and the victims?
It was a wonderful day of solidarity in sad days. Picking olives is good for the soul
Amazing. Well done. well done! What a lovely laugh the boy has in the video.
Yael, a really moving article, especially these days, Sindianat HaGalil and building an alternative are a ray of light. Thanks!
An exciting and hopeful article.
Women change the world
Exciting thank you
Inspiring
Well done to everyone, Yael. A pleasant and quiet evening
