The students, from birth to high school, came to Haifa from the surrounding communities in the south as well as from the communities in the north. The Education Administration in the Haifa Municipality has so far integrated 603 students in the city's educational institutions. In addition, the Haifa education system absorbed dozens of educators, who came from the communities that were evacuated and were distributed among the various institutions.
The receiving schools and kindergartens are adapted to the requests and characteristics of the children
Over 600 girls and boys, who were evacuated from their homes in the south and north since the start of the war, were taken in and began studying in the education system in Haifa. The reception of the students is accompanied by education teams, community and the psychological service. The schools and kindergartens that accommodate the students are adapted to the requests and characteristics of the children, depending on the child's age, special needs, educational stream, proximity to the area where the family stays, and more.
Cooperation between organizations and educational institutions
The evacuated families have been staying in hotels in the city, in student dormitories and with host families since the beginning of the fighting. In each of the centers there is a representative of the education administration, who receives the families, offers them to integrate into the municipal education system and the community systems at no cost and accompanies their full integration into the education system. Next to them, the information and registration center of the education administration in the municipality places the students according to the age stages and the educational stream that is appropriate for them.
So far, 245 students have been integrated in the elementary schools, 222 students in the secondary schools, and 38 students in the special education frameworks. In addition, 68 children were included in the kindergartens in the city and another 30 toddlers between the ages of birth and 3 were included in the dormitories.
Dozens of educators were recruited to accompany the new students
The administrators of the educational institutions in the city of Haifa quickly mobilized to accept the children and fully integrate them into the classrooms. Some of the students were integrated as a group, for example the students of Kibbutz Dan staying at the "Dan" hotel were all integrated at the "Ramot" elementary school and the "Hogis" high school, Shlomi students who were integrated according to the hotel where the families are staying - at the "Naot Peres", "Hofit" schools, "David Yelin", Nirim", "Einstein" and "Ben Gurion". The high school students were integrated into a special complex that was opened at the Reali school.
In addition, dozens of educators were absorbed into the Haifa education system, who came from the evacuated settlements and are a significant aid to the existing educational teams.
Mayor of Haifa, Einat Kalish Rotem:
Haifa is proud to serve as the new temporary home of dozens of families, who were forced to leave their homes and are happy to accept their children in the Haifa education system, known for its quality. The Municipality of Haifa places an emphasis on filling all the needs of the families and will make sure to match each child with the educational suit he needs.
Ilana Truk, Head of the Education Administration at the Haifa Municipality:
The integration of the evacuated children is done with the aim of restoring stability and security to the lives of the families - as much as possible. The receiving schools were excited and prepared for the arrival of the students, and each and every one of them gets to receive an educational, emotional and social envelope in a supportive and healthy learning environment. We made sure that the reception of each student would be easy and pleasant, and that each child would have the educational equipment he needed. The integration of the students in the city of Haifa will continue as long as the families stay in the city.
Proud of the mayor of Haifa, Dr. Einat Kalish Rotem and Baila Trok, head of the education administration in the municipality of Haifa. Cheers to you. Shabbat Shalom and blessed everyone.
The settlements are slowly becoming bases. This is a nightmare that will last for years because there is no activity to eradicate Hezbollah. In fact it is a war of attrition.
The settlements of the Carmel Coast and the Lower Galilee should allow expansions and build neighborhoods for evacuees. They are not suitable for an urban environment and certainly not hotels.
Wonderful

Proud of the initiatives that are so smart to do the act that is so necessary in these situations.
I wish they would do it in every receptive city. Both in the education systems and in employment.
Proud to be Israeli
Proud to be from Haifa ❤️🇮🇱
