The members of the state pensioners association did not wait for the war of iron swords to donate and volunteer. All year round they volunteer to guard agricultural farms, and these days they have also added help with harvesting for the farmers, who are either their reserve workers, or who rely on Thai workers, who fled because of the war.
about the volunteers
David Glick, the center of the state pensioners' association for budget pensions in the Haifa and Kiryat area, told about all types of volunteering: "We do two activities at the same time. For 3 years we have been doing activities in the new guard (an association that maintains and creates a presence in the field to help farmers). We took it upon ourselves to maintain Lilit on a cattle farm in the Jezreel Valley area, Nahalel Valonim and in the Binyamina area.
There are places where we guard from 19:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. and there are places where the guard is from 21:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The guard is unarmed. We light a fire, light up the place and go on tours.'
Divided into teams according to activity
David continues to tell: "There is a security coordinator who visits us every guard shift. If there is a fear of theft, a thermal drone is activated, which detects the body heat of the thief or the cow itself, and in front of the GPS, a border guard unit with a weapon is sent. There is a part that deals with maintaining plantations. At Shimirot we are divided into teams, sometimes we are 12 people, then we are divided into two groups and guard in two places at the same time."
They come to help according to the requirement and need
He goes on to say: "The New Guardian Association was established in 2007 on the basis of the Guardian Association, which was established in 1907, even then the goal was guarding against theft and damage. The guarding of the farm is regular. During the war, because many foreign workers fled, we also volunteered to pick. Today we were in the area In the middle of the day we were thinning fruit. Tomorrow we are in Ein Ayala picking cucumbers. Each time we come to help on demand. We come in groups of 16 volunteers, 8 volunteers or 5 volunteers depending on the scope of the work."
There is no age for working in agriculture
David continues to tell: "There are retirees aged 55 and over, but there are also older people, and there is no problem working in agriculture at any age. I know there is a need for more volunteers. Our association's management sits in Rehovot, and our CEO is attorney Ehud Sarafian. He Gives the tailwind in terms of logistics. He advertises our volunteer work in other areas as well. We have retirees all over the country who come to help.
The association also helps the elderly. We make home visits to nursing elderly people who cannot leave the house. Some cook for them, some bring them medicine. Before Tzuk Eitan, when all the moshavs in the south were in a difficult economic situation, all the retirees from all over the country went down to the Gaza Strip and they held a sales fair for us. We bought some of their agricultural produce in order to help them."
Attorney Ehud Sarafian, CEO of the State Pensioners Fund, thanks the state pensioners and tells about their work
We are at the beginning of a war for our home, and we will win and we will return the captives each and every one to his home to his family and we will continue to embrace and strengthen the residents of the Otaf as we did in the past.
A little about the association
The state pensioners association has about 50.000 households of pensioners who were all state employees during their work. Our members live nationwide and the association is managed by the Histadrut of State Employees, we encourage our members to volunteer - "the right to volunteer is an opportunity to make an impact".
Colleagues have a lot of knowledge and experience
Our colleagues have gained a lot of life experience and knowledge in various fields. The toolbox they have accumulated over the years allows our colleagues to make a difference in the lives of others. I believe "he who gives also receives". In the survey we conducted among our colleagues, it could be seen that volunteering strengthens the desire to contribute and influence, and to be more essential.
Thanks to the thousands of volunteers who maintain agricultural farms
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our thousands of volunteers from all over the country who every day volunteer to maintain agricultural farms in cooperation with the "New Guardian" and these days we volunteer in the picking as help in the places where the foreign workers have left the country. We also volunteer in all government ministries and the health system and join in and help these days wherever we are needed.
An emergency center has been opened
We have opened an emergency center with dozens of employees and volunteers that provides an answer to all Israeli pensioners, wherever they are, and we help multitudes of pensioners from all over the country, and this is as part of the guidance of Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar David, and Attorney Ofir Alkalai, Chairman of the Histadrut of State Employees. We work in full cooperation with Moshe Mizrahi, chairman of the Haifa region of the Histadrut, and his deputy, Jacob Gabai, who, on a daily basis, carry out joint activities for the members of the association and in general.
The association gives a listening ear to the elderly
Unfortunately, the state does not provide an answer at this time for the third age and we have become the listening and supportive ear. The Haifa district team led by David Glick and Yafim do an excellent job and admire an array of hundreds of volunteers throughout the year in support and visits to nursing home retirement homes in the North district and in general, and are partners in many other volunteering projects in the national array.
"Our strength is in our unity"
We will continue to volunteer and work for the company. Under our logo has been written for over a decade "Our strength in our unity" - we are strong and we will win.

Well done, please give details of a volunteer center that we can take part in.
We are again thinking about the previous event and not the next event
One should prepare for the terror of mass poisoning from drones. of poisoning water reservoirs. of trying to destroy fields from the air with spraying, trying to kill groups of travelers by planting grenades. This guarding is only against agricultural crime and even then the police do not act and we must reform the courts which are released through a revolving door and then there is no chance to stop it.
Unarmed guard?
Cheers to my friends, and most of all to David Glick, my good friend.
Love you…
