The animals in the shadow of the war • Hila Lauper

These days, in which the war of iron swords that began on 7/10/23 is taking place, the State of Israel is experiencing the greatest disaster since the Holocaust. Whole families were wiped out and kidnapped, and hundreds whose fate is still unclear.

Amidst all the grief and chaos the survivors turned worlds to find their animals

The damned devils murdered everything in their path. They did not spare any living being, babies, elderly, disabled and animals.

I watched videos of families who survived, who lost family members. And amidst all the sorrow, amidst all the chaos, they turned worlds to find their animals. Soldiers who entered combat areas risked their lives but when they encountered an animal, they did not leave it behind and took it with them.

A heroic soldier saved a small dog from hell

A moving image of a heroic soldier, holding in his hand a small dog that he saved from hell (who was later reunited with his family) and he holds and guards it while fighting against the devils. Many ads from families who have lost everything but are begging for help to find their animal.

Feel wrapped up with the pets

Even in moments of great existential crisis, we find solace in the animals whose mere presence contains all our pain, envelops us and comforts us in their special irreplaceable way.

As someone who has been giving lectures on animals and their importance in our lives for over twenty years, I took it upon myself to voluntarily give Zoom lectures to children and teenagers during this difficult time when they were sitting at home. The advantage of this type of lectures is the ability to show the children all my pets and watch theirs. When a donor arrives to show their pets - what a celebration, what a joy!

The children tell about moments of happiness with their animals

To see the smile of the children when they introduce their animals, the smile of the teacher who proudly tells about the adoption of her dog from her association, the father of one of the students who listens from the sidelines and is "pushed" with the family cat, showing her off and telling excitedly that ten years ago he rescued her when she was Puppy and almost run over, the girl who holds her chubby dog who sleeps on her throughout class and tells how she shares all her secrets with him because she knows he'll never tell anyone.

An eternal covenant between me and the animals

I got my love for animals from my father who fed street cats. In his office he kept food for the birds and every day in the morning the office would be filled with birds that would come for a meal, he would take care of any bird that needed help. As a little girl I watched him take care of them and what love he would get back from them, I saw the happiness he experienced through dealing with animals.

Even then I understood that the alliance between me and the animals is forever, they are the greatest gift the universe gave to man.

It was amazing to describe it the French poet Anatole France who wrote:

Until a person falls in love with an animal, a part of his soul remains dormant.

Pure love from angels on all fours

Pets accompany us and give us unconditional and non-judgmental love and support. Pure love from angels on all fours who succeed in their miraculous way to relieve a little of the terrible pain we all experience.
