The funeral of Amir Ill
His mother Sharon and his father Shai paid tribute to him:
Our Amir is dear to our hearts. Life did not prepare us for this day. There is nothing more difficult than losing your child.
We were a close-knit and happy family, we traveled and had fun around the world. You were an outstanding athlete. You always had a ball in your hand, the basket in the yard survived so many seasons and eras and unfortunately broke during the last week. If you only knew how many people came today to honor you. You were an exemplary brother, you used to help us with joy.
On August 22, you enlisted in the war and marched to Nahal Oz. We visited you and did not worry for a moment because the landscape is so pastoral, we saw Gaza and everything was calm and peaceful.
You would come home and grab Milky the cat, take off your uniform and turn on the air conditioner.
The last Friday before your death we were in Jerusalem and we talked to you on the phone and you told me with amusement that they found mice in the base and you laughed. On Saturday at 6 am you started sending messages that Hamas is attacking the base and Golani's team is guarding the base. At 8:10 we called and after a few rings you hung up. We brought you alive. At 3:XNUMX we saw that your Gmail was open somewhere XNUMX km into Gaza. We didn't know if it was good or bad. Until we got the news.
A representative of the Israel Defense Forces paid tribute to the Emir:
We suffered strong blows last Saturday, each blow is a world in its entirety. Amir, I salute you now and forever. May all Border Guard soldiers learn from you and the way of your country.

(haipo) - Amir Eyal, 19 years old, was killed on Saturday (07/10/23) in battles against Hamas terrorists in the defense of the Nahal Oz base. The news of his death reached the family on Tuesday evening (10.10.23), four days after the relationship between Amir and his family was severed. Details of the funeral and swearing in the article.
Four days of terrible tension ended, when on Tuesday, 10/10/2023, the city officer arrived at the family home and informed the parents that Amir had been definitely identified and was no longer alive. Amir's father, Shay, posted on Facebook about Amir's death on Wednesday. "With a broken heart I have to say that our son, our beloved, Amir, was murdered by Hamas murderers in the battle that took place in Nahal Oz. A good and innocent boy who never hurt a fly. Thanks to everyone who supported us in the last four days. Information about the date of the funeral at the military cemetery in Haifa will be published later."
Shai Eil, Amir's father told Lahi Fe:
After the internship, Amir was assigned to the Nahal Oz base as an observation balloon operator. The base was manned, among others, by Golani's 13th Battalion. On October 7.10.23, 7, the base was attacked by hundreds of Hamas terrorists. The Golani force that was at the base was very limited both because it was Shabbat and the Sukkot holiday and also due to the transfer of forces to Judea and Samaria and was unable to stop the attack. At 18:XNUMX Amir stopped being available on WhatsApp.
The army has not yet given us a full version of the events, but we know that most of the base soldiers perished in the battle, including Amir's entire balloon unit. In the last half hour, before the contact with him was cut off, he managed to report in the family WhatsApp group that the base was under attack by hundreds of Hamas fighters.
For 4 days the family shook in the hope that he might be alive. What contributed to the hope is that his mobile phone is inside Gaza. Amir's family did not know what had become of him. The only thing they were able to find out is that his phone arrived in Gaza, following the identification of the device, which the family did. On 11.10.23, the family was given the bitter news that Amir's body had been identified inside the base.
He was 19 years old when he died.
The IDF announced that upon his death Amir was promoted from the rank of corporal to the rank of sergeant.
He liked to score three-pointers
Assi Sirkin, the coach of the late Amir in the youth department of Maccabi Haifa in basketball, remembers a young boy who loved basketball and loved to shoot three-pointers:
"Amir played for us already in the 4th and XNUMXth grades. He continued in middle school until the end of the XNUMXth grade. He is an amazing, kind and very sociable boy. Amir loved basketball very much, never missed a practice. We practiced XNUMX times a week. Amir was really a boy Sweet and liked by everyone. He was a good player, who liked to throw three-pointers and was good at it. He liked to score from a distance. He was an amazing kid. As his father wrote, Amir never hit a fly."
Amir served at the Nahal Oz base as an observation balloon operator in the 414th Battalion of the Combat Collection Corps. His friends from the army say that he respected everyone around him, helped everyone and volunteered for everything.
The Real School: "Amir was a good friend, who always liked to help"
Amir was the middle member of the Eyal family (Shahar graduated from the 4th grade and Shir in the 11th grade), he started his studies at the Reali School in Realigan and graduated from the KGth grade. His school teachers describe a blond and smiling boy, a good friend and sports lover. He played basketball at Maccabi Haifa, ping pong and tennis and loved watching all the sports broadcasts on television from Israel and the world.
In the class book at the end of the sixth grade it was written about him:
"Amir is impressive with his extensive knowledge and current affairs, he is always up to date. He especially likes to score baskets and shows high abilities in the basketball team.'
Tamir Zaevi, Amir's friend, eulogized him:
I was a good friend of Amir in training. Amir helped me a lot in the army. It was very, very difficult for me at the beginning and throughout the time in training and Amir was always there for me and saved my life without a doubt at all. Without him I wouldn't be here today, I appreciate him very much and I'm sure you know what an amazing boy you had sharing in your sorrow ❤❤❤
Marom - Amir's commander in training wrote about him:
I share your sorrow so much, it burns my heart.
We are all devastated but know that we were privileged to know Amir and cherish every memory and moment I had of him.
No one will be able to empathize with the huge pain you must be feeling right now. I wish I could strengthen you even a little. I just wanted to tell you a few things about Amir and if it would be even a little bit nice to know what a lovely man he was also from my point of view.
You see that his values are from a good house. He was always with Derech Eretz at the highest levels possible in any condition in any situation even when he was stressed even if he needed things urgently in any situation he would respect everyone around him, help everyone and volunteer for everything he could until the last minute.
I kept in touch with him even after the training when he moved to the balloon base and when I saw him again after a few months, after a few minutes of conversation he just filled my heart and brought back the longing for the charming soldier I remembered him to be and how much I loved him and the conversations with him in training.
There are no words that will really help but for you to know that we are all hurting together with you, we were lucky to know him and I'm sure everyone will tell you that about him. I love you without knowing you because of this amazing child you sent to us and if he represents even a little of the values you instilled in him at home, it says a lot of good things about you.
So thank you for him, thank you for getting to know him. I share in your sorrow so much.
Terrible... Shares in the family's grief... Condolences...
May the memory of Amir be blessed!!!!!
Very sad... I share your sorrow..
I pray for:
The fighters who will succeed,
The captives and the missing who will return soon and in the meantime will not suffer..
The sick and wounded who will recover soon...
And in contrast, to the souls of the departed.
If Israel does not eliminate Gaza and turn it into a closed military area of the IDF - Gaza will eliminate Israel.
This should already be absorbed and internalized.
The question is whether everyone who is responsible for the omission with over a thousand young people who were massacred because of their omission can internalize the situation.
My heart hurts, my heart is pinched. I share in the family's grief.
The unbearable lightness of existence…. 💔💔💔
