The new amphibious assault ship of the Haifa Haim Achi Nachshon has completed its journey across the seas and at the end of the week is already anchored at the naval base in Haifa. The amphibious vehicle entered the territorial waters of the State of Israel accompanied by the missile ships, a submarine and regular security vessels of the Haim Arm in a ceremonial reception in honor of its arrival in Israel.
The landing party completed its journey from the USA, a journey that lasted more than a month, in which dozens of men and women fighters managed to cover over 6,500 miles and crossed the Atlantic Ocean. The Achi Nachshon landing party is a large and heavy warship, 95 meters long, 20 meters wide and weighing 2,500 tons. The landing will be an important addition to the sea arm as a war vessel that allows the transportation of fighters and equipment and landing on near and far beaches. Meanwhile, it should be noted that the landing ceremony was held at the beginning of August 2023 at the US Pascagoula Shipyard and is the first of two platforms to be received by the Navy. The ceremony was led by the commander of the Haifa base, Brigadier General Tal Politis and senior officials of the Ministry of Defense's procurement delegation.
The new amphibious landing of the naval arm will allow the IDF to expand the flexibility of the forces' operations in the various combat arenas, and will bring new and multi-armed capabilities to the combat arenas. The official acceptance ceremony for the naval arm will soon be held at the Haifa Navy Base, after which the amphibious landing will begin the process.
