(live here in the neighborhoods) - Residents in Carmelia are outraged that public areas, including sidewalks and parking spaces, are leased by the municipality to entrepreneurs who work on the many construction sites in the neighborhood, which creates difficulties for them and prevents them from being able to pass safely.
The Carmelia neighborhood committee sent a sharp letter to the Haifa municipality, protesting that the municipality, according to them, rents to developers who build in the neighborhood parking lots and sidewalks near the construction sites. According to the committee, in recent years the residents have been dealing with the proliferation of construction sites in the neighborhood, which greatly impairs their quality of life, and the fact that, in addition to this, public properties are being expropriated from them, piles up additional difficulties on them.
Currently, the developer's area
Oron Ross, a member of the neighborhood committee, claims that the members of the committee noticed during their activities that the municipality began renting out parking spaces to developers wholesale. "The parking lots in front of the construction site are leased to entrepreneurs who use them even when the site is not active. In fact, the parking lot belongs to the developer, without a time limit, and he uses the space for the needs of the site.
"Why not the residents?"
"What we can't understand, says Ross, "is why the parking lots won't be used by the residents of the neighborhood? It's a public resource. The fact that the parking lot is rented out creates ownership of the parking lot by the developers. In any case, signs are put up around the construction site, so at least they should limit the developer's hours of use with a sign.
The developers get the parking for 24 hours a day. Beyond the aesthetic hazard, this is a safety hazard. In general, in our opinion, there is no place at all to rent these parking lots, but if you do rent them out, you can, by placing a sign, do it so that at least in the evening and at night and on weekends, the parking lots will be used by the residents."

The sidewalk is blocked
"The sidewalk at the beginning of Zafaririm Street was closed for several days with boards and fences. We contacted the municipality to find out the reason for blocking the sidewalk and they sent an inspection here. Then they came back to us with a reply from the municipality and said that the sidewalk is blocked because it is rented to a developer. You can explode from things like that!" shouts Ross. "The sidewalk is the property of the residents! Beyond that, no one thought it necessary to let us know that the sidewalk, which belongs to the neighborhood, was rented to a developer."
'That the municipality will at least take care of a safe passage'
"Furthermore, if a part of the sidewalk cannot be used by the residents, then at least there should be crosswalks on both borders of the site. If the municipality gives a hand in closing a sidewalk, then it is at least obliged to ensure that there is a possibility of safe passage. When children pass there, they have no option This is in a safe way.
It is very disturbing to us that public assets are taken and rented out against the public interest. This is the first time we have come across a sidewalk rental at all. Theoretically, from the developer's point of view, he can do whatever he wants in this area, and lo and behold, he closed the sidewalk and the inspectorate says there is nothing to do, because the sidewalk has been leased. If you think of 10 such entrepreneurs, you can reach half a kilometer of sidewalk in Carmelia that will be closed off from the public. There is no signage or accessibility there."
We have no complaints against the entrepreneurs - we demand answers from the municipality
Oron further adds that the municipality is sending the residents to the developer so that he can give answers about what will be done with the sidewalk. "We want relief from the municipality, not to work with the developer. We pay the highest property tax in the country, and they also take public spaces from us, it's simply scandalous. We demand to know what other rental contracts have been made. I'm not complaining to any developer, they're doing their job And I respect that. The complaints are for the municipality not giving us the service we deserve. We want quality of life in the neighborhood."
Even during the war - the streets are full of vehicles parked inside the traffic lanes - Allenby Avenue, Herzliya Street, Zion Avenue, Stella Maris Avenue, Degania Boulevard.
The municipality does nothing. And when there will be a moment of truth when evacuation and rescue forces will have to arrive and will be blocked in traffic jams because of entire lanes that are blocked, they won't give judgment about it either and will slander as usual that "the public did not show patience and created traffic jams".
A municipality that has been doing nothing for a month. They sit in the stupid HML in Balfour and do nothing.
Unfortunately, this is actually happening.
Klish stated at the beginning of her term that she would like to get more and more people to sell their vehicles.
She also said this with her characteristic empathy: those who don't have private parking are in their own trouble.
She does put her words into practice.
Blessed that we got rid of her in a month.
Answers from Harfa municipality?!
You made fun of Eliran Tal, who speaks for NIS 40 a month to send back 'no response'
We need a called committee. All the candidates are lectured by contractors, not just lecturers - they are in places 2-3-4 in the list. Real estate agents and contractor representatives. It's a hostile takeover of the city
I have no doubt that the landlords benefit from this personally. How easy it is to make an agreement with the tenant (developer) for an amount x that in fact he pays an amount y that is much higher than the amount of the agreement and pocket the difference... It is even easier for the landlord to make renovations in his house that is carried out by the tenant and at his expense. Cheating and lying in the Haifa Municipality reared its head.
We will come to the days of Khushistan.
And we will miss the city engineer whose wife received a fur coat from a leading contractor.
Half of the sidewalks on Rachel Street were blocked all last year.. The shadow disappeared like nothing and only trash remained. For those who walk, they have to walk on the road in the blazing sun. And thanks to the municipality
Only for entrepreneurs? In the entire area of Carmelia - old Carmel, the sidewalks generally belong to vehicles that park on the sidewalks, taking advantage of the lack of enforcement, and a complete disregard for the anarchy that exists here.
Of course, Klish does not respond... by the way, this happens all over the city and especially in the TMA 38 projects in the Carmel neighborhoods...😖
And in Moriah 72 they took over not only the sidewalk but also 5 priceless public parking lots with high metal fencing..I wonder if the payment is based on two hour parking fees for the entire period..because then with that you can establish a public garden or plant trees in an entire street. ..250×365=???? One hundred thousand shekels???
The same English Lords block off the entire center of Horeb every Saturday and leave their fences on the sidewalk in between as if it were a warehouse,
And they are! Rioting over the trashing of the sidewalks in Carmelia!
Face it friends in dictatorships there are no sidewalks
