Celebrating the fall of 2023 in the Haifa Valleys
Even though the transition seasons are not necessarily adapted to the weather outside, the project "Celebrating Autumn in the Haifa Valleys" that will take place this October (2023) for the third time, is back in a big way.
14 walking routes that will be led by volunteer residents in the Haifa wadis, in the river channels, in community gardens and on city paths, waiting for walkers and hikers. This year, we are collaborating with the 'Haifa History Association' and some of the routes will open with a short tutorial on the history of the site/place which will be delivered by the association's volunteers.
Which routes are we talking about?
The suggested routes for walking are: Ramat Alon Forest, Heroes Stream, Rosh Mia Site, Nahal Latam, the Trail of the Terraces in Wadi Golda, the Arbaim Grove, Stella Maris, Givat Oranim, Nahal Ziv, the Einstein Trail and the Community Garden, the Yiftach Trail, the Hayat Orchard, the Goat Hill, Shil Ehud, Nahal Latam - a tour before sunset.
A community project
The tour leaders are residents from all Haifa neighborhoods who work voluntarily. The residents are not qualified guides, but they love nature and recognize the importance of wadis and the need to adopt a view that sees wadis as part of the urban system.
For each tour, a WhatsApp group of the tour leader was opened with updated details about the day of the route, as well as changes if necessary and in light of the fickle weather. Publications can be followed in Chai Fa and Kb Facebook "For Haifa". It is the responsibility of the travelers joining the tours to verify the nature of the route, its length, the terrain conditions and to arrive equipped accordingly.
How do you register for trips and where do you get information about future trips? Thanks in advance
Good Morning
I would like to join the track in Ramat Alon next Friday.
I would like to receive details regarding the starting point and the starting time.
I don't have Facebook, is it possible to get the exact location to start with?
Thanks

The blocking of access to the valleys is done in an orderly manner by the Municipality of Haifa. See for example the green private areas that surround the Ramat Goral neighborhood and in the past enjoyed planned and orderly access by wide roads. All of these approaches have been canceled in the new planning. Utilization of private space for public buildings, for example the schools of Reali Azoza , Urban God and the Maccabi Sports Center, has now become impossible. This is why the municipality is headed by a woman with a degree in planning...
I love you!!!!!!!!
All the best to you, attorney Inbal Chen-Bergav. Shabbos Shalom
A lovely initiative, but how do you register? Where are the details of the routes?
Hi Ehud, since we are volunteer residents who lead a completely independent initiative that is not supported by the municipality or any other body, the entire publication appears in the Facebook group 'For Haifa' that I have been leading for three years in the city. 'For Haifa' was established to raise awareness of the Haifa wadis and last Wednesday we recorded another achievement in the fact that there was a panel of candidates for mayor in which they also talked about the Haifa wadis. The tour projects that lead wonderful residents in the city allow us to expose many residents to the dozens of trails that the city has been blessed with and we are happy to see growing numbers of people joining from project to project.
Hello Inbal. It is very difficult to even know where the entrance and exit from the valleys and tracks are. This is done on purpose. TMA 38 contractors are blocking entrances that used to be there, stairways are being blocked with neglect, there is no signage towards Hoadith, certainly not informational signage.
This is the municipality that always wants to make the wadis an "attraction" but does not do the minimum to make them accessible to the public
I suggest that apart from the trips where, even in the large groups, the total number of residents is very few and usually many come from outside Haifa as well,
At the same time, generate a fundraiser for public signage in the entrance areas to the wadis in coordination with the Haifa Municipality which will also include what is allowed and what is not
In wadis as at the entrance to any public garden.
This will do the most to connect the residents to Huadith. Many don't even know how to get in and out of them even if it's a few tens or hundreds of meters from their residential street.
Because this is an election period, it is also necessary to combine tours of the wadis with the candidates on the faction lists and connect them to the issue.
Let them hold home circles - not at home but within the Huadith
Thank you Eyal for reading and getting involved, we will be happy to see you on tours. In the Facebook group 'For Haifa' you can follow the current state of the trails, as posted by travelers and join the call that we are leading to adopt an urban concept that sees wadis as natural assets of the city and a requirement to maintain them, including signage along the many trails.
