A battered and sad piano
On Saturday, 16/9/23, Amos Kramer, a resident of the city of Haifa, passed by the piano in the center of Carmel and saw that someone had hit some keys. The damage is added to the general condition of the piano and its neglect. "The concrete piano that was placed in the square next to the Carmelite in the center of Carmel has become a recurring focus of vandalism," says Kramer, "since I usually walk early in the morning on a fairly regular route, I am exposed to all the trash and signs of vandalism left behind by those who spend the night in the center of Carmel. It is necessary to note that this is not an issue Random or one-off. This is an ugly phenomenon that repeats itself over and over again, especially on the weekends.
Amos Kramer adds and says:
About a year ago I documented the severe damage done to the piano. So the police rushed and using the nearby security cameras found the saboteur and I hope he gets his punishment.
Also on Saturday, when I was walking early in the morning, I again came across the vandalism done to the piano. This time sabotage is "lighter" than the previous one, but it's definitely evident that the center bullies enjoy going wild and sabotaging. Unfortunately, there is no municipal and/or police enforcement and I don't want to think what will happen to those who pass by vandalists at night and try to wake them up. The filth and vandalism is also evident on the nearby Louis Promenade and along the entire commercial boulevard in the center of Carmel. The upcoming elections are also no reason to raise the issue of rampage in Carmel, and I would also like to mention the vehicles and the shenanigans that make noise at night in Carmel."
Previous vandalism cases
It should be noted that the current damage to the piano is not the first damage to it. In November of last year, the piano was vandalized by a 30-year-old man. Cameras are located on the piano floor, so shortly after the damage to the piano, the films reached the police and they located the person who was suspected of the vandalism.
In the video, you can see the city resident smashing the piano keys, then going back and forth with a dumbbell and continuing to destroy the piano. The police investigation led to one of the neighbors allegedly reacting to the piano being a nuisance.
In May of this year, just 4 months ago, the resident of the city was recorded vandalizing the piano in the center of Carmel. In the video, you could see a young woman spraying inscriptions on the piano. The young woman was captured by the camera lenses, which surround the piano square.
The piano is located in the center of Carmel near the entrance to Carmelit. In recent years, it has been a target for vandalism, and you can see that, although every time someone damages it, the municipality repairs it, now it is in a bad state that does not respect it.
It should be noted that in addition to the vulnerability of the piano itself throughout the period, that the piano is placed in the center of Carmel, neighbors complain about the noise, as a result of the placement of the piano. According to them, there are few people who stop and play and in contrast there are many people who pass by and hit the panther keys and make a lot of noise from it. Another claim is that although the tenants who live nearby have reached an agreement with the municipality that during rest hours and after 23:00 pm the piano will be disconnected from the electricity in order to reduce the noise, most days this is not done and the tenants suffer.
Comments:
Police response: We are not familiar with the complaint.
The Haifa municipality refused to comment on the article.
When you take a macro view of what has been done mainly in Hadar in the last thirty years or so, can you see that efforts have been made to destroy Hadar and now also the Carmel center?
About thirty years ago they started talking seriously about a plan to evacuate the Bazan complex and the factories along the Histadrut route (they will surely leave only a small part of the refineries, after all we must not be completely dependent on fuel imports from abroad and there must not be only one refinery in Ashdod, a group of suicide bombers from Gaza and Finito la comedy).
Is it possible that there is a deliberate hand here that must be from the upper echelons to lower the value of the apartments?
Is this so that associates will buy the cheap basil and when the area is actually cleared (with the exception of the compound that must be left to refineries as a backup and in case of emergency), the contractors and those close to the plate will make a fortune?
Is there anything to do with the closing of all the schools in Hadar except for one elementary school they left?
dishonorable act
Good night
Israel is not Europe. It is not a place where you can place a piano in a public place, because in Israel the dominant culture is suitable only for criminals. See the proof in the picture. Dozens and maybe hundreds of pianos in the world and we have never seen anything like this. Which proves my words: Israel is far from being civilized, the dominant culture here is that of the criminals only.
Sorry for the repeated errors: why do I have to wait every time for the publication to be approved, I have been registered and subscribed to you for years. thanks. Good signing everyone.
To the treasurers, I have been registered with you for years, why should I wait for Idorey to publish????
Yes, regarding the books, letters from the piano, about a month ago, were sprayed at night both in the Mania Shochat garden on a brand new garbage can, as well as on an external wall of the food store in Moriah after the flower shop in the corner towards the walking path next to the public garden next to Wolfson 4 where there are walls, railings, A side parking lot, further down Wolfson 4 at the doors to the garbage room of the house to the road meter, everything is painted with loud screeching similar writing that is today on the piano in question in the center. These things are done at night when there are no patrols anywhere. Who is responsible for fixing and painting everything that got dirty???? I am a very, very old resident of Haifa. In a central place in the city of Carmel, in dirt and filth. and residual vandalism. Who from the municipality will pick up the gauntlet, and initiate an inspection, and appropriate treatment. The last time we painted and demolished the door in Wolfson 4, we the tenants repaired and painted. This time we deserve a service from the municipality, which will take care of visibility for the public who pass by. If not the municipality that should still exist, then the new team that will take command later. I would appreciate a reference. Greetings, Irit Landsberger Wolfson 4.

As the piano looks, so does the maintenance in the city, and so does vandalism, which is a crime in all of Haifa
Either there will be legal reform and enforcement and an immediate reduction in crime or we will suffer more and more
Here they vandalized a piano. In Tel Aviv they vandalized the Ben Gurion statue. They vandalized roads in Jerusalem
This is either they break up to the end or they do punishment and enforcement to the end, there is no middle ground
Apparently Haifa does not deserve a public piano.
Maybe too heterogeneous a city.
Even in the pedestrian mall in Netanya they don't deface it.
There's no escape, in Haifa everyone will play their mother's song and come to Zion Goel.
This piano is a punishment for living in the building next door. One fine day the municipality placed a piano in front of a residence, without coordinating its placement with the building's residents. After countless complaints, we were able to reach an agreement with the municipality, to silence him during rest hours. Unfortunately, the municipality is not always careful to keep the agreement. The piano was placed during Yona Yahav's time and this action was a good reason not to choose him as mayor again.
