Impressive achievements for the Israelis in the European Sumo Championships for adults held in Poland
Last night (Sun. 17/9/23) the second day of the European Adult Sumo Championship, 2023, which took place in Poland in the city of Krutoszyn, ended, with the participation of 16 countries from all over Europe and with an Israeli delegation of 7 athletes.
Ilana Kartish, an Olympic wrestler and well-known athlete, made history on the very first day of the competition(!) when she won a silver medal, the first and historic in the sumo branch in this competition. This is how Kartish managed to put Israel on the achievement map in this industry as well.

Another surprise
On the second day of the competition (Sunday), a man who beat leading athletes in the field and finished with a bronze medal! It is important to note that Sagi participated in the absolute category, which is open to everyone, in which anyone may participate, without a weight limit.

In addition to this, the Israeli sumo team won in a team competition, while presenting an impressive technique and leaving no chance for Great Britain in the battle for the medal.
Ilana Kartish:
"The excitement to honorably represent our country and stand on the podium is indescribable.
I fell in love with this sport and I believe that I will still go far for higher achievements."

Sagi Hilo:
"Wow! It's a lot of fun to be a part of the sumo sport, I'm very happy for the opportunity and to have proven that I can succeed at this high level. I continue to study and get stronger on my way to the next competitions. I'm happy to return with a medal and bring a lot of pride to Israel, and I'm happy that we also made history in the men's category."

The chairman of the union, Lazar Kaplon:
"This is the first time that there was an honorable Israeli delegation in this competition. 7 Israeli athletes, of which 3 finished in 5th place. We are on the right path and will continue to do so. Congratulations to Ilana and Sagi for the historic achievement, you are the inspiration for this sport, continue to succeed!"
The association for the promotion and development of the sumo branch in Israel recently began to promote athletes and bring them to a professional level, while maintaining an orderly, professional and strong training framework.
The sumo wrestlers testify that their familiarity with the culture and the special history of the sport, they have a significant part in the fact that they were captivated by the magic of sumo and fell in love with it.
The union stated:
"We will continue to grow and get stronger, in the hope that we can also find sponsors and future assistance that will allow us to promote more successes and develop this branch in Israel. It is important to note that sumo is considered one of the leading and successful sports in Japan, and recently it has also developed greatly in European countries."
In the picture above, the Israeli looks like the child of the other three
Why are we always so small compared to the Europeans and the Americans, don't we feed our children?!
