(live here in the summer) - City Council member from the Haifa Green Movement, Yael Shanar, submitted a query regarding the lack of shade sheds on the beaches.
Shanar's query follows complaints from residents that the shade has disappeared from the beach, especially 8 sheds that have disappeared in the beach area in front of the Camel restaurant and the barrel. The municipality decided to take down the sheds precisely in the middle of the hottest summer months - July and August - in the midst of the long vacation, when children and parents often come to spend time at the beach and find refuge from the intense heat. Now those spending time at sea find themselves, when they are forced to fight for any shaded area where they can settle down, and instead of arriving calmly and peacefully, they are required to worry in advance whether they will find a shaded place or not.
City Council member from the Greens, Yael Shanar, wrote in the query she submitted:
"It's summer and it's hot, so we go to the sea, and the Haifaites love our beautiful beaches very much. But even though it's only getting more and more crowded here, and more and more hot because of the climate change - precisely on the beaches they decided to take down the summer sunshades. I was contacted by a number of residents who wondered where the 8 sheds that had disappeared From the Camel restaurant to the keg. Their attempts to get an answer about this turned up nothing, so I'm contacting them on their behalf. Why were large sedums on the beaches displaced? When are they expected to return? Why not make renovations to the shading solutions on the beach in the winter and not at the peak of the season in the summer?"
A resident of the city who often frequents the beach in Haifa, And especially in these days of the summer vacation, she comes regularly with her children to spend time at the sea, she says in a lively conversation: "Every summer, due to the long vacation, I spend most of the time with the children at the beach. We love the student beach, in the section that starts from the Kamel to the barrel, there always There were 8 sheds scattered about. If anything, it made sense to add sheds, given the extreme heat and climate change we've been experiencing in recent years, and certainly felt this summer.
But what, in July the Haifa municipality apparently decided to take down the sheds. We waited and waited, hoping that new sheds would be installed in their place, but the situation remains as it is. I contacted officials at the municipality, it took some time before we received any response. What I was told is that the Coastal Division was allocated a budget to put up sheds, but in this section, from what is known, the sheds were not legal and therefore there is no intention to install new sheds there.
It's very amazing to me. I ask myself, what? For decades sheds were illegally erected? The whole story sounds bizarre and illogical. We, the residents of the city, demand that the municipality put up as many sheds as possible and that they take care of shading, so that we can have fun with our children instead of carrying both chairs and umbrellas that don't really help."
Councilwoman Yael Shanar, No. 2 in the Green faction, who deals a lot with the issue of the shadow in the public sphere, told Lahi Pa: "Haifa is shouting loudly, hundreds of trees have been cut down in the public space under a cliché, in the amusement parks and gardens without shade, and also on the beaches to which Haifa residents flock in the summer, they have decided precisely now, in the middle of the big holiday, to take down 8 expensive sheds. The result: Haifa residents have to "catch" shade, or travel To distant beaches. It is true that we are in an election period, and it seems that no one is interested in life itself - but it is unbearable. I am calling on the leaders of the Haifa municipality to return the sheds to the beaches - and one hour earlier would be nice."
Kudos to the fight of Yael Shenar from the Green Movement for shade on the beach, on the promenades and in the streets of the city. This is a basic condition in a city with a quality of life that the leadership of this municipality and its predecessor tend to underestimate. Of course, the municipality has no response, because they know that Yael Shanar and the residents are simply right!
I contacted the municipality a number of times on this issue and received shameful answers.
What a shame.
Take down the sheds because:
1. The government declared war on the citizens.
2. To convince that there is a climate crisis by eliminating shady places. Municipalities also cut down trees indiscriminately.
Addressed to the contending mayors
I ask for your attention to the new problem at Dado beach. In recent days, all the good and excellent pergolas that provided shelter and protection from the sun to a large number of bathers who visit the beach during the bathing season are being dismantled. And in their place new sheds are being installed which in the best case will provide protection from the sun for two families with a mat, the current sheds to catch shade you have to find an angle outside the shed, despite the great awareness of sun damage.
This year, in the current situation, I avoided going to Dado Beach.

Immediately replace the back. cliche
Go to the kitchen to do the dishes.
It has no benefit whatsoever for Haifa.
It destroyed the city of Haifa for us.
There is so much to improve in the city and nothing is being done?
Mrs. Klish - the kitchen is waiting for you
The truth about the students is that there are sheds in Tower 6, it's the last tower towards the south. What's bothering you?
Throw the dog into the sea
About two years ago I wrote to the Haifa municipality that on the northern Carmel beach (where there is a breakwater) there are only 4 sheds for the entire beach. helped? No. Did you bother to answer? No. Huge beach with only 4 sheds.

Of course Klish gave an order to take down the sheds like everything she does without thinking come on get out of our sight
The trees around the city are also cut down by the municipality!!!
Why? On such hot days we need trees!!!
They give us shade!!!
This is an appeal to the mayor:
Show leadership!!! And don't give in to the agenda!
We all know the agenda. As Klaus Schwab said:
You will have nothing, and you will be happy
Show us that you protect us, and do not blindly obey your superiors.
Alas, climate warming, the people here are lethargic, they don't understand where the world is going, and they will leave horrors to their children and grandchildren
They approved a development budget, where will the money flow - so the approved money is invested in taking care of the necessary and important things - removing the sheds that cast a shadow - this is important - that way people will be able to get more color in their tanning and maybe a few other things... and there are those who understand these matters in the municipal coalition.
Take down sheds... no shade! So come with the wonders. This is the patent full of strings that everyone gets stuck on, at the end of each string is a sandbag that is filled for half an hour and thrown several meters from the fence. The roasting in the area of the same shed that was taken down, but under it a single couple + a maximum of a small child...
The trick is that everyone puts where they want and thus closes the entire beach and access to the sea....
What's new? A city with zero services for the resident, no normal cleanliness, no entertainment, no shows, no parks, the beach looks awkward... I am a resident of Nesher and hope that in the upcoming elections you will make the right decision there in Haifa, bring change, don't go back.
And by the way - it's really not just the lack of shade sheds on the beaches:
1. The retreat of the beach at Dado and Carmel beaches - the issue of the breakwater has not been addressed for 20 years
2. The boardwalks are narrow and crowded, instead of widening them and connecting them - heavy congestion and crowding.
3. There is no public transportation on weekends to the beaches, the issue of parking is a non-stop mess that is not regulated.
4. Bat Galim Promenade - the ugliest, outdated and wretched urban coastline in Israel by far.
5. The state of the toilets and changing rooms and the lack of lockers on the beaches - shame and disgrace.
6. Rescue services that arbitrarily close when hundreds of people are still bathing in the sea in the sun.
7. The lack of shade in Hecht Park, in Bat Galim Promenade, in Student Beach, in Kiryat Haim
Go to hell you fucking municipality
Property taxes in the sky to finance huge salaries so that the officials and millionaire pensioners of the municipality of Haifa can go on vacation all over the Mediterranean in the cities that are investing in their Riviera. Wretches like you, you destroyed the city no less than the failed leadership.
The one who reached heroism and destroyed the city for 15 years - turned into a nursing home, created failures for generations.
The one who came to fix it, said 'cleaning the stables' - left ruins, another stench in the stables.
So the time has come to stop the rush - an honest and matter-of-fact mayor - Avihu Han.
Very right
What is happening in the city of Haifa? We have had better and less good mayors in the past, but there has never been such a troll.
The entire beach belongs to the municipality. So what is a place with illegal sheds? Did something invade his territory?
This city is not functioning at all lately. At the height of the heat, in the hottest year in history, sheds are removed from the beach under the strange claim that they are illegal.
A week ago I complained about dirt and filth in the center of Carmel, in Gan Rishonim, in a garbage facility that was placed there by the previous municipality. A short time later I received a happy reply, my complaint was taken care of. Immediately another message arrived asking me to praise and praise the quick treatment and to inform of my satisfaction. I went down to see and my eyes got dark. Not only did no one come to handle my complaint. The filth in the place has doubled.
No mayor can succeed in Haifa
They are robbing hundreds of millions for salary increases and benefits and an attached car and incentive bonus for the municipality employees.
Extortionist, exploitative and wasteful. Vacationers spend thousands of shekels for hundreds of municipal employees instead of sheds and lighting.
Haifa needs a called committee, which will put order in this entire municipality and the waste of wages for its 400 senior officials.
How lucky that the elections are coming soon. There will be a heavy price for the continued disdain for the residents, also regarding the shadow issue
The municipality abuses its citizens even before the elections... Kalish is trying to lose the elections at any cost...
And why are all the services on the beach closed in the evening when the boardwalk is full of tourists??????
Only in the evening, come at 6 in the morning, everything is closed.
It doesn't make sense that every time I go to the beach with my children we have to carry an umbrella and chairs with us because there are almost no shady places. It used to be possible to rent, but it cost a lot of money.
A stupid mayor, the main thing is that she is a woman, but in general she ruined our beaches. Sheds that are only suitable for one person only and do not provide any shade
What about water at the beach? No water in the taps, no water for feet on the Pacific coast?
The response will come in the elections. To kick out this delusional woman who destroyed the city
👌
Contact the Civil Service Commissioner and the Public Complaints Representative at the State Comptroller's Office to fire the municipal spokesperson who refuses to respond to all media and tweets about his almost unique public role towards the public.
There is a limit.
He will be fined and fired.
I wonder what a "legal" shed is???
A shed with a valid visa?
A shed with a valid residence permit? Or with a proper registration in his heart on the area on which it stands?
And an illegal shed is considered a settler?
What is this nonsense? But since it is the municipality of Haifa, I am not surprised.
What is an illegal shed? And why did they replace wide sheds with mini sheds, even on the Pacific coast?
The reference is to Bat Galim beach
It's good that the elections are already close... that way there is a chance that the people will remember...
👍
Relax, the sheds will be installed in the winter. and will be removed again next summer. No reason to complain.
Stop lying about climate change. You lied about Corona, you lied about animals.
Since when does the municipality respond?
If the council member had visited the beaches, she would have discovered that the sheds were already taken down in the winter...
She would also find out that they had installed new and good sheds.
Instead, as a council member on behalf of the Greens, she will bless that they finally removed the ugly and harmful concrete, which is the greenest and best action for the beaches.
It's amazing that a media outlet publishes things without checking and wants us to take it seriously.
By the way, what do sheds have to do with restaurants or maybe someone wants to get in touch? … 🤔
