A lovely intersection
(haipo) - The Haifa municipality has been promising for years to build a crossing at the dangerous Maksim intersection, but time and again it is revealed that promises are one thing and actions are one thing.

Over the years, many residents have turned to the Haifa Municipality with a request to treat a crowded and life-threatening center on the road next to the "Maxim" restaurant in the city. Among the caring people is Haifa resident David Friedman, who is not ready to let go of the issue and continues to demand the construction of a crossing on the spot.
Friedman contacted the Haifa municipality many times over the years regarding the matter. He made the first request during the term of the previous mayor, Yona Yahav, when he was told that a square was planned to be built there, but shortly after Yahav finished his position and Dr. Einat Kalish Rotem took his place.
Since then and today, dozens of requests from residents have been sent to the municipality on the subject, with Friedman's last letter sent directly to the mayor, in the hope that she might still be able to build the crossing that was promised during her term. Friedman's letter was sent on 24/6/23, but he has not yet received a reply.
As you know, visitors and travelers who park their cars in the parking lot next to the Maxim restaurant in order to get to the restaurant or walk along the beach promenade, are forced to cross the road risking their lives. Vehicles merge and get off from the Maksim intersection (Hagana, Sea Road) and the tunnel from the promenade. These are mostly families and children and adults.

In August 2020, the Director of the Public Complaints Department, Yossi Cohen, replied to Friedman in a letter that there is a plan to regulate a crossing. Time passed and nothing progressed. Friedman, did not give up and continued to complain. In December 2021, the Director of the Public Complaints Department answered again and emphasized that it was decided to build a crossing at the site. And that its establishment will be carried out according to the annual work plan and according to the order of priorities as determined by the traffic regulations department and the road safety headquarters. As of the publication of the article in June 2023, nothing has been done.

Friedman, who is an infrastructure engineer and worked for 5 years as a controller of the Ministry of Transportation, says in a conversation with Lahi Fe: "I hope that the municipality will make a crosswalk and find a budget. People risk their lives every day and they could be run over. It's all a matter of time until a disaster happens. I don't understand why We need to smear the public and not do anything."

We have learned in the last few months that every citizen can do what he wants with the road, so please.
Why does everything in this country take years and even longer to do a simple thing across a crossing and it would have been better to build a pedestrian tunnel there like near Egged and Herzl Street
There is a traffic light a few meters away. What's the problem with crossing the road properly? Even so, a very busy intersection, make more obstacles there?
You also need a crosswalk on the street in front of or next to the Liobek therapeutic pool.
When they run over there, the municipality will blame Yaffe Nof, Yaffe Nof the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Transportation the Director of the Transportation Division and he will blame Israel Railways. That's how it will work.
Shame on you. Haifa is only deteriorating
disgrace
Did you understand what was written?!? According to the work plan in the municipality...
The residents of the city have yet to cross the dangerous road safely!
There is priority! Did everyone understand?!? priority.
Really, really cheeky. Human life is like a garlic peel
In our enlightened country in general and Greater Haifa in particular.
What is not clear?
Everything Shihav planned and approved, Kalish does not approve in principle
Shame and disgrace! The place is dangerous for pedestrians to cross, action must be taken before a disaster happens.... Please remember, the Maksim restaurant went through a terrorist incident, in which people's lives were lost, an orderly access must be arranged for the restaurant guests coming to the monument until the train route is changed.
A joke municipality, as usual
