That was then, but today, three years after the well-publicized Hanukkah of the dog beach, the beach is neglected and desolate, not pleasant for the dogs and certainly not for their owners, and is a hazard, according to Yuval Bossin, a resident of the neighborhood.
There is very little sand in the place. The beach is full of stones and rocks. The bag dispenser intended for collecting the needs of the dogs is empty. The dog owners have nowhere to rest or sit, although there are benches along the promenade, but there is no shade and it is impossible to sit for even 10 minutes in the blazing sun, which characterizes our area during the summer.
Yuval Busin, Chairman of the Bat Galim Residents' Committee, says to Lahi Fe: "The chairs and umbrellas that were on the opening day - forget about them, because they don't exist at all, and as we mentioned, it is difficult to step on the "sand" because you hardly see it because it is covered with stones and rocks.
If that's not enough, there has been a water leak for a while now, which, despite requests, has not yet been fixed. The water flows continuously even when the tap is closed.
Busin Jubilee: "We already reported on the problem of the stones two years ago. The Haifa municipality sent a shovel, which crushed the stones, but did not remove them from the beach. The municipality must remove the stones and rocks and clean the sand.
It is also important to make shading that will cover the benches. Care must be taken to add another door from the entrance of the new accessible toilet building, as in the main entrance to the beach. A double door must be installed, in order to prevent dogs from escaping. Two doors is a safety thing." You need thorough care, not engravings."
